New Details and Speakers Announced for Stan Lee’s Public Tribute on January 30

Next week, on January 30, stars and fans will gather at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood to pay tribute to Stan Lee during “Excelsior! A Celebration of the Amazing, Fantastic, Incredible & Uncanny Life of Stan Lee.”

Speakers and special guests include Mark Hamill, RZA, Clark Gregg, Felicia Day, Bill Duke, members of the cast of Marvel’s The Runaways, cast members from FX’s Legion and Fox’s The Gifted, plus others from the entertainment world.

The event begins in the forecourt of the TCL Chinese Theatre and will include a display of photos, artwork, Lee’s classic comic books, and memorabilia. Ticketed guests will be allowed to leave flowers, candles, and sign a condolence book near where Lee’s hands and footprints are imprinted in the forecourt.

Art displays will include a preview of pop-culture artist Rob Prior’s gallery show The Legacy Collection of Stan Lee. Prior will also be working on a live painting in the forecourt. Joining Prior will be Jennifer Contini, who will be displaying her series This Love Lives On featuring images of Lee.

The White Castle Crave Mobile will be on site as well serving one of Lee’s favorite snacks, sliders, for all fans.

Representatives from Legion M, Stan Lee’s POW! Entertainment, and Agents of Mayhem, all three co-producers of the tribute will greet fans and introduce guest speakers prior to the arrival of Kevin Smith. Smith will assemble an honor guard of world class cosplayers representing many of Lee’s co-creations from Avengers, Spider-Man, to Dr. Strange and more to pay their respects and lead the crowd in a salute to Lee accompanied by a police band of pipes and drums.

A group of veterans from Veterans in Media & Entertainment and the American Legion of Hollywood Post 43 will also honor Lee for his service during World War II. President of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, Chief Paul Cell, will recognize Lee’s contributions to and support of law enforcement and creating safer communities.

Smith will lead the tribute inside the TCL Chinese Theatre and moderate conversations with speakers including:

  • Michael Uslan (Executive Producer, The Dark Knight)
  • RZA
  • Tom DeSanto (Executive Producer, X-Men)
  • Marv Wolfman (Blade creator)
  • Joe Quesada (Chief Creative Officer and Executive VP, Marvel)
  • Jeph Loeb (Head of Television, Marvel)
  • Bill Sienkiewicz (artist, Elektra: Assassin)
  • Gill Champoin (Lee’s Business Partner at Stan Lee’s POW! Entertainment)
  • Lauren Shuler Donner, Derek Hoffman (producers, X-Men)
  • Members of the creative team from the Academy Award-nominated Spider-Man: Into the SpiderVerse
    • Phil Lord, Writer/Producer
    • Chris Miller, Avi Arad, and Amy Pascal, Producers
