We’ve got “hakuna matata” (no worries) today because we just found out The Lion King soundtrack is now available for pre-order!
The soundtrack features all of the favorite songs from the original animated version of the film, as sung by the live-action film’s stars. This includes Seth Rogen (Pumbaa), Billy Eichner (Timon), Chiwetel Ejiofor (Scar), Donald Glover (Simba), and of course, Beyoncé (Nala).
As with the original, the music for the film has been done by Grammy and Oscar-winners Sir Elton John and Tim Rice, with Hans Zimmer, who is also both an Oscar and Grammy-winner, composing the score. (The talent here is pretty incredible huh?) And no, the score is not EXACTLY the same as before — Zimmer revisited the iconic music and reimagined it to feel like you’re in a live concert hall.
John and Rice wrote a new closing-credit song for the live-action version called “Never Too Late,” which Sir Elton will perform with an African choir.
There is also currently a TBA for Track #14 on the album, so fingers crossed for a Beyoncé / Elton John collab!
The digital version of the soundtrack will be available for download at 8 a.m. PDT on July 11. The physical album can be pre-ordered now, right here!Â
The Lion King roars into theaters on July 19, and you can pre-order tickets now!
