Tips about Disney Springs

Did you know that many of the Disney Springs restaurants have their own mailing lists that alert you to special deals and offers? I just received a mailing from Blaze Pizza and right now there is a sweet summer send-off special. Print out the email with the QR code (it can only be used once) and you'll receive a free dessert when you turn it in at the restaurant. You can also download the Blaze Pizza app, which has other specials available. - Deb Wills

Just wanted to let y'all know that Paddlefish has been updated to a "fine dining" experience on the Disney Dining Plan. It now requires two dinner credits. - Kim Tucker

We enjoy the free activities at Disney Springs, a great place to wind down after a busy day in the park. Activities in front of Earl of Sandwich, a great place to eat and cheap compared to other Disney area restaurants, were family oriented. Also the band and stage area, outside, in Pleasure Island has entertainment at night. Adults and kids alike can all have fun and relax. - Jayne

I wanted to let you know something about Splitsville. All the information that I have seen come out so far indicates that they are only taking walk-ups. I went to the Splitsville website and you can make reservations for Priority Bowling now. I made reservations for March and July. You select a date and time and you get the first available lane. Kind of like the concept of Advance Dining Reservations. You could wait awhile, but supposedly, less time than a walk-up. You pay a higher cost, but for the other planner people like me, they may like to know about this. I like knowing that my family will be able to bowl one day this July! - Kellen

The Ghirardelli Soda Fountain at Disney Springs now has soy milk for their coffee drinks. It does not show up on the menu. They do not charge anything extra for it. - A. D. Johnson

I went to the Earl of Sandwich in Disney Springs and found that the Earl has free, unsecured Wi-Fi access using the SSID "EOS_Guest." The only problem is the signal is sporadic and does not reach all areas of the restaurant. The best place that I've found the signal is strong is by the Coca-Cola soda dispenser. When I connected my iPod Touch to the Internet there the best things that worked were email, text messaging apps such as TextFree and some low-key audio/video apps. Streaming video doesn't work and neither does VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol). Be aware that there is another SSID which is named "EOS" -- this is NOT the public Wi-Fi, this is a secured Wi-Fi signal for employees. Make sure you only connect to the SSID "EOS_Guest." - Rick Schwarz

If it starts raining in Disney Springs, and you don't have a poncho, some of the non-Disney-owned stores may have cheaper ones. We got two clear plastic ponchos for around $2 each at the Raglan Road gift shop, when the other stores were selling Disney-branded ponchos for $7 each. - Amanda Porter

To save money, we fill up our refillable mugs at Pop Century and bring them with us to DisneyQuest along with some snacks. You can then store your mug in your bag, pull your bag out anytime during the day to get something, and also if the night is chilly you won't be dragging your coat around all day. I would also recommend if you are on the Disney Dining Plan, to go outside of DisneyQuest to Wolfgang Puck's for lunch or dinner. (Or even both!) You can do their counter service or the sit-down meal there. We didn't have reservations and did dinner on two very busy Saturday nights as a sit-down, and only waited 15 minutes each time! They are fast and it is really delicious. (Their desserts alone are incredible!) - Dana Barish

I'm 5' 6" and 365 pounds, and I went to see La Nouba with a similarly sized friend. We had tickets for down in front, but because of the seating we told the usher we would not be able to sit in the theater seats. Little did we know that the walkway through the center of the theater (going across, not forward/backward) had sections where chairs can be placed. So they brought out two comfy, sturdy chairs (with no armrests!) and seated us in one of those sections. - Jennifer

When visiting Disney Springs, don't forget to slip into Ghirardelli's Chocolate Factory. They sometimes give out free small chocolate bars. One for each person in your group. The packages have already been snipped open at the end so if you don't want to eat your chocolate right then, bring along a small zipper-top bag to slip it into. It's not often that you get something "free" while at Walt Disney World! - Lisa McBride

Most people like to visit Disney Springs during the late afternoon and at night. True, this is a good time to visit Pleasure Island and eat at the wonderful restaurants when you don't have any children with you. But if you are with a family who just wants to do some shopping this is not the time to do it. What I like to do is go to the Marketplace to do my shopping on the last day. Since we usually leave in the afternoon we have a few hours in between checking out and leaving on the Magical Express. By the last day you know all of the merchandise from the parks and what you really want to buy. Plus if you forgot something that you saw in the parks chances are you will find it in the World of Disney Store, they have everything! In the morning there is almost no one there and you can actually shop in the stores without someone breathing down your neck. This is the perfect way to end my Disney vacation and a chance for me to get some things to bring the magic back home with me! - Kara Tillyer

The Pin Trading store has the most complete selection on property and several sculptures are great for more photos. There is a kid-sized railroad ride that we love looking at. The atmosphere in Rainforest Cafe is unbelievable, but the lines are, too! A Tuesday or Wednesday night at the Cafe is easier to get seating. Don't miss their shop. There are other fun stores that we sometimes visit, too. - JanACA

We stayed at Port Orleans French Quarter, so we took the boat ride to Disney Springs, had dinner at Raglan Road and then spent the rest of the evening shopping. Raglan Road was phenomenal! In fact it was one of only two restaurants my boyfriend requested we go back to again this September! The bar was great and the service was excellent. - Betsy Ralph

We always end each trip with an afternoon spent shopping in the Marketplace. Usually at the end of each trip we have a handful of snack credits remaining from the Dining Plan. Instead of them going to waste we take full advantage of The Enchanted Dining Room at World of Disney. This room is divided into two areas, housewares and gourmet food. Here we trade in our credits for Disney cookies, pretzels, snack mixes, candy, or whatever else is available. This way we can take a small piece of Disney home with us to enjoy over the weeks following our return. - Brooke
