Our family stayed at the Polynesian as DVC members in July 2018. Our room was clean and well appointed. We had a view of the lagoon and could see the fireworks over the Magic Kingdom from our patio. My son and I sat outside eating a quick breakfast each day before heading to the parks and sat outside for a little bit each night enjoying the view. We enjoyed walking along the paths near the water and sand to the boats to the MK or on our way to the amazing pool (with the volcano waterslide). It was easy to walk to the main building and catch the monorail, or go to the boats to ride across the lagoon, or walk to the TTC and catch a monorail to Epcot. The room had plenty of space for the four of us (2 adults, 9 and 11 year olds). We had room to store all of our luggage and the kids enjoyed sleeping in the pull down bed (with Lilo and Stitch painted on the back panel).

Pros:

beautiful theming!!!! Location, location, location; on the monorail; great view of the water and Magic Kingdom; close to transportation (monorail, small boats, ferry and TTC to catch Epcot monorail)

Cons:

cost ($ or points) considerations

I love the Poly. The lushness of the grounds, the beautiful rooms, the dolewhip counter, the volcano pool and the smell in the lobby are all amazing. The Poly has great activities for kids. You can watch the fireworks from Magic Kingdom on the beach. It is super easy to get to the Grand Floridian, Contemporary, Wilderness Lodge, Fort Wilderness, Magic Kingdom and Epcot. My favorite resort!

Pros:

Location, theme

The Polynesian has the best of both worlds: a quiet and relaxed environment, and a location that's right in the middle of all the action. The grounds are gorgeous and very well-kept, you can see the castle and the fireworks from the beach, and the restaurants are excellent. The deluxe studio is very spacious, with two bathrooms (only one has a toilet). I've been able to see the fireworks from the balcony of a standard view in the past, although that's not guaranteed, of course.

Pros:

-Two Bathrooms makes getting ready in the morning easy -Bonus points for being able to use one of those bathrooms as a separate room for our baby last trip -Nice views and balconies on upper-level -Very Spacious -Storage under bed

Cons:

-Motion sensors for the fan in the bathrooms can get annoying -You can hear the ferry boats and fireworks at night, so if those kinds of noises bother you, it might not be for you

First ever stay at the Poly as a new DVC member and we were not disappointed. We loved the theming, the smells, the food and not to mention Ohana! When we were there in July the dumplings were missing so we were happy to see them back on the menu. For a resort so close to Magic Kingdom, the grounds are so peaceful and quiet. The room was clean and spacious for our party of 4. This is my new go to resort hands down!

Pros:

Location, quiet, clean, theming is amazing

Cons:

Room was a long walk from lobby

We were a family of 3 staying in a studio for the 2017 Star Wars/Darkside Race, and the week after. This was our first time staying at Poly (we've been dying to stay here for years!) and we loved it. We were in the Tokelau building, so it was easy to catch the monorail to Epcot at TTC (about a 5-minute walk from our room), or it was a short walk to the main building to catch the monorail to Magic Kingdom. We loved the separate bathtub/shower. Made getting ready in the morning easier and quicker. Our 10-year-old son liked the pull-down bed beneath the TV, which saved a lot of space since we didn't have to pull out the sleeper sofa. As far as drawer space, you have the two drawers under the bed and a closet. I was able to fit in 8+ days' worth of clothing into one drawer, and our son used the other drawer. My wife used the closet for her clothing, so we found "clothing storage" to be adequate. It might be a little more tight during winter season with bulkier clothes.

As for a couple negatives... The monorail between Epcot and TTC broke down a couple times during our stay. Once, we had to catch a bus from Epcot to TTC after waiting about 20 minutes on the monorail (apparently the other monorail on the track broke down). The rooms aren't exactly soundproof, but this was something extremely minor with us. You can hear families out in the hallway talking and laughing (but hey, it's Disney!), and I could have done without the leaf blower at 7 a.m. right outside our room (we were ground floor).

Would love to stay here again if we can manage it!

Pros:

location, room size, separate shower/tub

Cons:

monorail issues b/w Epcot and TTC, noise

We stayed in a studio DVC room in the Moorea Building from 12/22-12/27. This was only our second time at Polynesian and our first since 2007 when our kids were still...kids! We were very happy with our stay. The Polynesian is so beautiful and so incredibly themed. All the cast members greet you with an "Aloha!" which adds to the fun.

The check-in process was smooth and friendly. We had lunch reservations at Kona Café and before we were done eating I received a text saying our room was ready! The separate longhouses are spread out a bit but our walk from the lobby to our room was probably 7-8 minutes. We were happy to find out later that the walk from our room to the T&TC was even quicker. Very convenient for access to the monorails heading to MK or Epcot. The pathways get a little dark at night making it a little challenging but they're lit by tiki torches which makes it fun!

Our room was a decent size with nice décor, clean and comfortable. There was enough storage space for four people to survive just fine for five days. We were so happy to see we had two bathrooms! Two showers and two sinks - only one toilet. Boy did this help speed up the "get ready" time in the mornings.

The Great Ceremonial House, as the lobby building is known, can get crazy busy during afternoons and evenings and that's a good enough reason for me to avoid it whenever possible! The Kona Café, O'Hana's, a lounge, two gift shops and a coffee and pastry shop are all located there. We didn't do much at the cafeteria besides filling our resort mugs so I am not able to comment on that. The quiet pool was centrally located and very, well, quiet. It was a nice place to stop for a drink. The main resort pool was usually pretty busy.

We enjoyed our stay very much at the Polynesian and can't wait for a return visit!

Pros:

peaceful, beautiful resort

Cons:

nothing at all
