Reviews of Coronado Springs Resort (Moderate Resort)

This is actually the last of the moderates we had not stayed at. Overall I really liked it. I loved the room, as well as the pool. It is similar to the Caribbean in that there are multiple buildings around a lake resulting in multiple bus stops, but the stops are much closer together. I think most surprising for me was how much I liked the location. I always attributed it to being the Animal Kingdom side and really away from everything (similar to the All Star Resorts). It's really not. It is closer to MK and AK than the other moderates, and either closer or the same distance to Epcot and Hollywood Studios. I was surprised how quick the bus rides went.
I really have only 2 complaints. First is just the conferences. To be honest, you really do not notice them unless you head to the bar area at night (which I did after the family went to sleep to watch some sports). Bartenders were fine, it was just that the conference goers (for whatever conference this was) were very obnoxious. Anyways, not something I'm holding against the resort, and something you really wouldn't notice if you aren't in the bar area.
The only other negative I have is how spread out the resort is. There are 4 bus stops which on the surface I do not mind. The walk to the QS area got cumbersome every morning (going for drinks and snacks), but I can live with it. However, they did not do a good job with the busses. On one day (we were heading to Epcot), we waited 20 minutes for busses, and eventually just took our car. We watched multiple busses go right by our stop (our stop was full of people waiting) because they filled up on the first few stops. We also watched as the Time til next bus board kept rising. I think they need to rethink the busy hour bus system a bit to fix that issue. But, other than those minor things, I did really enjoy this hotel.

Stayed at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort for eight nights in June. Really pleasantly surprised! They honored my special requests for room location, mousekeeping was amazing (thank you Ramon!) - several wonderful towel animals through the week, beds were made with military precision, not a dust bunny or stray hair to be found - spotless. I tend to peak under the sheets and examine the mattress - older mattresses, but comfortable and no stains) :).
I had stayed here once before a month after the resort opened (I think 1998) and forgot how beautiful the grounds and buildings were. This time, we stayed in the Casitas section... loved it. So beautiful. For those contemplating which "region" to stay... I liked Casitas best, then Ranchos (if you don't mind a bit of a walk to the main buildings). I personally found the theming of the Cabanas section least impressive, though still beautiful. We rented a car, so I can't comment on bus service or the walk to the main buildings (though I see why other's have said it could be quite a hike from your room to the main areas).
I am a big Disney full-service restaurant fan, so we only used the Pepper Market food court twice (lunch the first day and breakfast the last morning). Service at the counter was a bit slow and food was so-so. Had to use the Business Center to ship a package home... convenient and effective, but service was a bit in need of training - very polite, just not fully up to speed. LOVED Panchito's gift shop... nice Coronado specific merchandise and friendly, helpful staff. Front desk staff was pleasant and effective at check-in and check-out.
I have stayed at several Disney Deluxe hotels during other recent trips and I would say Coronado holds it's weight comparatively. Was nervous that the convention center would damper my vacation mood, but never saw a suit or briefcase the entire week (maybe no conventions were booked while I was there). Would recommend and would stay here again.

We stayed here for a long weekend Dec 10-13. Our room was perfect for what we needed. We were in Casista Building 4, otherwise we would have had a lot of walking to do.
We did not take advantage of any of the amenities offered at the resort until Sunday right before checkout. The quick service restaurant was closed for a private event and they had set up a once through breakfast buffet in the main restaurant.
Pros:

I booked our stay at Coronado before reading reviews. After reading reviews I was worried that I made a poor decision but I have to be honest that our stay was fantastic and would definitely stay here again.
We stayed in the Cabanas which was a short walk to the main building. Not a problem as we were visiting in February when the weather in Florida is much nicer than the frigid weather we came from. The walk isn't an issue as there are multiple bus stops and employees with golf carts are more than happy to call out and see if you need a ride. Our room was always in lovely condition, even if the bathroom needed some updating. (Our bathroom door was weird and had difficulty opening it since there was no handle but aside from the door everything else was lovely.)
The food..THE FOOD. I cannot eat Gluten or Dairy and we ate at the Maya Grill AND the Pepper Market and they were able to accommodate me. If you have food intolerances/allergies ASK the cast members were so nice and we had fresh food from the Chef. YES on Gf/Df french toast AND Mickey Waffles in the morning!
We did online check in and our process was smooth. Checking out was great as well. Honestly, I cannot find anything really poor to say about Coronado We want to go back now!
Pros:
Lovely environment, comfortable rooms, housekeeping is great, restaurants accomodating for restricted diets, gorgeousCons:

I have stayed at several Disney resorts and this is possibly my favorite. We stayed in a "business" room near the bus stop and restaurants and got the free continental breakfast, so our experience may have been a little easier than others. I recommend upgrading, if you can afford a little extra.
The grounds are beautiful and the staff is extremely helpful. They helped my disabled mother get around and even mad a pre-checked TSA boarding pass for her--without being asked. The bus system was not reliable, but that is not the fault of the Coronado Springs hotel. The hotel itself and the experience staying at it was wonderful. We got Mickey towels, the room was cleaned promptly and the magic bands worked pretty well (sometimes took a couple of tries to line it up, but we always got in the room). The bathroom needed a paint touch up, but if that doesn't bother you, you should have a wonderful time.

We stayed at Coronado Springs March 15-17, 2014. We had a great stay. I used online check in and received the building and view I requested. Plus the room was ready for check-in at 9:30 in the morning. We were very pleased. We ate breakfast every morning at Pepper Market and the food was delish. I highly recommend the Egg and Chorizo sandwich. we had little to no wait for food. We also had great bus service. Our longest wait was 10 minutes for the bus to Epcot. This was my second time staying here and my boyfriend's first. I would highly recommend this resort.
Pros:
Beautiful, not crowdedCons:

Coronado Springs is a LARGE resort. Acreage wise it is the largest of all Disney resorts. I was staying in building 4 12/4/13-12/9/13. Third floor room. We had easy access to stairs, and there was a "quiet" pool right by our building. Building four is near bus stop two, which is VERY NICE when coming back from a long day at the park.
The staff is excellent. Especially Maria and Robert. They are in the front desk and work hard to make sure your stay is enjoyable.
It is about a 10 minute walk to the pool from building 4. We walked the entire "circle" from the front building all the way around the property and it took about 30 minutes to get back to the main building. Very beautiful grounds. At the end of the day it could be quite a walk, especially if you have young children to the back of the property.
The main pool (big dig site) is AWESOME. Arguably the best pool at Disneyworld. Has a great slide, really large swimming area, tiny toddler pool, and a small hot tub. Very very nice though and a must do.
Magic Bands in DECEMBER were anything but magic for me. My rating here of 9 is simply on the resort, and not on my disneyworld experience. If I had to rate my Disneyworld experience due to the many, many magic band issues, my rating would be NEGATIVE! It prevented me from booking for next year, which I was planning on doing.
If I was to return to Disneyworld, I would stay at Coronado. It is a convention hotel, so you get more of a major named brand hotel (think H...or M...) feel than a Disney feel. There are no characters around. The theme is upscale Southwestern type instead of a "disney type" thing. However, I LOVED this resort and would not hesitate to recommend it.

25th anniversary trip Oct 10-14...first time at CSR.
After getting off to a rocky start (online check-in was a slower line/service than non), we had an exceptional stay (buttons, balloons, toast certificate given at check-in). We were treated like royalty from all cast members.
Beautiful location (room upgrade?) in Casitas 4 poolside with lush landscape, fountains, and just-long-enough 5 min lakeside walk to El Centro.
Lakeside walks at night added to the romance of the resort--could even hear Fantasmic from Studios!
Pepper Market different, but manageable once you got in the flow. A lot of variety.
Maya Grill is fantastic...best food on property in the several restaurants we've tried! Boris provided excellent service and the live music added to the ambience.
Bus stop 2 (Casitas) was great after a day in parks. Waits were bearable, sometimes light, on days we departed from stop 1 (El Centro, last pick-up before the parks). Very nice surprise since Riverside buses were our previous reference point!
We'll be back with the kids next time! Can't wait to show them the Dig Site.
Pros:

Just returned from a week long stay - while attending a conference. Stayed in 9B which is part of the business/club upgrade. Although it is more money, it is well worth it. The location of our room was perfect. It was close to lobby, bus stop, and pool. The staff in the club room were great. Read reviews about the quick service restaurant, it is a bit confusing the first time, but the food choices are very good. The staff was very helpful and overall the experience was good. A nice feature- you're the only ones on the bus! We did not share with other resorts! I would recommend this hotel!

This was our first time staying at the resort, and I did a lot of research prior to booking. Most of the reviews I saw mentioned the size of the resort being a negative, and cleanliness.
I have to tell you, neither of these were an issue! As long as you are informed and plan ahead, you can get a room near a bus stop. We stayed in the Cabanas section building 8B, and we could literally see the bus stop from our room. This was great, especially late at night trying to juggle a sleeping child, stroller and miscellaneous bags. We were also less than 2 minutes from the pool, which meant we didn't get any of the noise wafting over from it. We never had any long waits for the bus, nor couldn't get on a bus because it was too crowded.
The only negative aspect I felt was the way the quick serve restaurant worked. It is unlike any others I have been to before, and hopefully they will change it to be more in line with other quick serves. We only used it once, so it really wasn't an issue.
We had amazing housekeeping, and never had any issues with cleanliness. Our housekeeper even went so far as to call us one day to make sure we didn't need any supplies since we had the "do not disturb" sign up all day.
We will 100% book this hotel again, and I will recommend it to anyone looking for a moderate resort!!
