Heads up to anyone staying at Disney’s Old Key West Resort in the next few months! One of the hotel’s best-known perks will be unavailable.

The Old Key West resort sits on the banks of Disney’s Sassagoula River along with Disney’s Port Orleans Resort — Riverside, Disney’s Port Orleans Resort — French Quarter, and Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa. The four resorts share a water transportation system that connects them to Disney Springs. However, that service is currently unavailable at Old Key West.
According to Disney, “From February 10 to early April 2025, boat transportation from Old Key West to Disney Springs will be unavailable. Resort buses will be available as an alternative during this time.”

This shut-down of the watercraft service will make it harder for guests staying at Old Key West to get to Disney Springs as well as its sister Sassagoula River hotels.
Opened in 1991 as the Disney Vacation Club Resort, Old Key West gained its current name in 1996 as the DVC expanded from a single hotel to a full collection of offerings. The report is themed to the Florida Keys, specifically, the fictional town of Conch Flats, “a sprawling island hamlet with shimmering waterways, swaying palm trees and manicured golf-course fairways” where guests can “delight in sun-soaked pools, casual dining and such amenities as fully equipped kitchens or kitchenettes.”

Guests staying at Disney’s Old Key West Resort in the next several months won’t have access to the hotel’s normal watercraft transportation option. Stay tuned to AllEars for more on when this transportation option will return.

Just an fyi: if you plan on going to Disney Springs during the daylight hours, there is a walking path (called Saratoga Springs Nature Trail or Conch Flats Nature Trail) that travels there. It is not illuminated at night and would not recommend using it then , but you can take the bus back. Not sure why Disney doesn’t advertise their trails more or have better signs. I have walked it many times and find it very enjoyable.
