Due to wildfires in Southern California, Universal Studios Hollywood announced that both Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal CityWalk will be closed today, January 8th, 2025.
Both Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal CityWalk are expected to be open for business tomorrow, January 9th, 2025.
The company took to X to announce the closure this morning.
Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal CityWalk will be closed today as a result of the extreme winds and fire conditions. We will continue to assess the situation and expect to open for business tomorrow. The safety of our team members and our guests is our top priority.

Currently, there are three major fires burning in the Pacific Palisades, Sylmar, and Altadena as strong winds continue.
The Santa Ana winds are expected to continue through Wednesday morning, and a red flag warning will remain in effect until Thursday afternoon. A high wind warning will remain in effect through Wednesday evening. According to ABC 7 Los Angeles, wind gusts could reach up to 80 mph during the early hours this morning. The National Weather Service said that isolated gusts could top 100 mph in mountains and foothills.
