The Haunted Mansion has been a popular Disney ride for generations.
While the ride at Disneyland Park has a bit of a messy history, the Magic Kingdom variation was an opening day attraction in 1971 and has been popular ever since. It’s an old ride, but Disney has kept it updated and frequently refurbishes and adds to it (like the popular Hatbox Ghost). There are 999 happy haunts in the Haunted Mansion, but from time to time some of them go missing until they’re brought back to their rightful place. Luckily, one such ghost has returned after a long hiatus!
A ghost duo having a nice picnic disappeared for quite some time. Where they went, nobody may ever know. Perhaps they were busy haunting another Disney World ride for the past two years. This concept art released by Disney in 2019 shows just who is missing, though.
One of them, the gentleman, found his way back to the picnic table in the middle of August of this year. We were so excited to see him back, but we wondered where his companion was, and if she, too, would soon return.
We were sad that he had to have that picnic all by himself. But luckily, we have great news! The second ghost has officially returned to the picnic!
Now these ghosts likely don’t get much attention as they’re part of the graveyard scene where LOTS of ghosts are hanging out and taking your attention, but the next time you ride the Haunted Mansion give them a little love and check out how their picnic is going!
Disney has been adding and bringing back ghosts to the Haunted Mansion lately. We’re happy to now see both of the picnicking ghosts and the Hatbox Ghost officially home with the other happy haunts. Hopefully, they’re happy enough to stick around!
