If you’ve flown at all, you know how stressful the entire experience can be when it comes to booking and packing, the delays, the layovers, and so much more. Well, to try and help you cut back on some of that stress, we wanted to clue you into a couple of unspoken rules you need to know before you fly with Delta Airlines.

You Can Claim Free Wi-Fi Like It’s Your Birthright

Wi-Fi is pretty much essential these days, right? I mean, how else are we supposed to catch up on our TikTok or binge that new true crime doc? Well, when it comes to Wi-Fi, Delta’s got your back.

If you’re a SkyMiles member, you can enjoy free Wi-Fi on board. (I’ll pause so that you can insert your favorite celebratory emoji here.) Now, before you go and start streaming Netflix, remember that free Wi-Fi isn’t always the fastest connection. But hey, it’s free, and sometimes that’s all that matters.

Your Miles Are Your New BFF

Guess what?? Your SkyMiles don’t expire. That’s right! Go ahead and repeat after me: “My SkyMiles don’t expire.” This means you can actually save up those precious points and use them for something meaningful, like a free flight or a hotel stay.

And guess what else? You can use your miles for more than just flights. They can even cover those “lovely” checked bag fees, upgrade your seat, or even book entire vacation packages. Accumulate them and use them!

Time to Partner Up for Additional Perks

Okay, so let’s say you’re already earning miles on your Delta flights. Did you know you can earn even more by linking your SkyMiles account to other programs? (This one feels a bit like a real-life cheat code.)

Let’s talk Starbucks. Not only can you earn SkyMiles when you buy your favorite drink, but you can also collect Double Stars on your travel days. And don’t even get me started on Lyft and Hertz. Your miles can get you free rides and discounted rental cars? Yes, please!

  1. For the second time a wheelchair was supposed to be waiting for me at Atlanta Airport and it was not. I had to wait 25 minutes until someone brought one. I even called Delta the day before and was promised one.

  2. Delta is steadily getting worse in its transparency and services. Being truthful with the distressed passengers for the delayed flights and offering meal vouchers are essential. I was stuck more than 3 hours and the airline was not telling the truth.

  3. My husband and I were supposed to fly Delta airlines July 20th From Phoenix to Seattle, Seattle to Sitka, Alaska. When we got to the Phoenix airport, our flight was delayed three times and then finally at 5:35 PM it was canceled! Not one person from the Delta airline counter alerted anyone taking that flight that there was a cancellation. We had to see it on the board for ourselves. After waiting in line for over an hour and a half, we finally got to the counter to change the flight from Delta Airlines, to Alaska Airlines. On top of everything else, Delta never transferred our luggage when they assured us that there would be no problem! We were on vacation for a week in Alaska with no luggage!!! We will never fly with this airline ever again!! Worst experience in our lives!!!

  4. Would appreciate some new procedures: 1. Just because your seat reclines, you needn’t disregard the person behind you. Premium Select seating is MISERABLE on long haul flights. BEWARE. Airlines should let mit the reclining ne if seats are too close. 2. Shades Down. There’s always someone who opens a shade & ruins it for movie watchers. First class attend ends request shades be closed but not in steerage.

  5. I Love flying Delta. I won’t fly anything else. Now I have a friend who’s had a couple of terrible experiences but I’m still loyal to Delta.

  6. I flew Delta in May, on my return trip after celebrating Mothers Day. I used an online 3 party vendor. Initially red lettering said I needed to correct my e mail address. After doing this, I purchased a one way ticket home A short time later, the 3rd party vendor phoned me. He insisted I had purchased two identical tickets and said wheelchair assistance and carry on luggage would be an additional fee
He then said that for $591 he would cancel the other two tickets, and it would include everything I needed. I told him he was a scammer
I called Delta and customer service said I should file a dispute, and that Delta never charges extra for wheelchair assistance or carry on bag. The 3 rd party company is Cheap Good Fares. The company took $497 out of my account. My bank filed a dispute. I am not getting a refund
As a disabled senior, this has impacted my ability to pay utility bills.

  7. Used to…is the relevant phrase. They no longer give points for basic economy. And after paying extra to fly on a higher tier and having a horrible experience, I am ready to try someone else

    1. I fly Delta most of the time. I have flown with partner airlines also. KLM is my first choice overseas. Delta in USA. I am very pleased with Delta. They have always helped when I have needed assistance. I have needed a lift when exiting on the tarmac. Thank you for your excellent service.

  8. Im platinum with delta. But they have turned their back on frequent flyers for dollar spenders. I will be making the transition to another airline
