You may be worried about how the sequel will change the story explored in the original film, or, if it’s been many years, may not want your favorite film to be touched. OR you may be like a lot of us here and be ecstatic when a sequel is announced — especially when it’s for a film as iconic as this!

According to Fox35, it’s been announced that The Devil Wears Prada, the 2006 hit dramedy, has a sequel in progress at Disney!

The original film was based on Lauren Weisberger’s 2003 novel of the same name and starred Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, and Anne Hathaway. It followed Miranda Priestly (Streep), a demanding editor-in-chief of a high fashion magazine with Andrea Sachs (Hathaway) and Emily Charlton (Blunt) as her assistants.

Streep received an Oscar nomination for her performance in the film, which grossed $326 million at the worldwide box office. While the film is still in early development, the film’s original screenwriter, Aline Brosh McKenna, is tapped to return, and according to Deadline, the original director and producer, David Frankel and Wendy Finerman respectively, may be back as well.

While details about what cast members may be returning is unclear at the time, sources are reporting that the sequel could follow Priestly, still running the magazine, as she navigates the decline of traditional magazine publishing while Emily Charlton (Blunt’s character) is now an executive at a luxury group with advertising dollars that Priestly needs.

We’ll be keeping a close eye on this new film’s development, so be sure to stay tuned to AllEars!

The cast has been announced for Disney’s live-action Moana film!
