Disney World is constantly evolving and this week we found out about a MASSIVE change coming to the Disney Parks!

It was recently announced that Genie+ would be getting a bit of an overhaul but that was only the start, as Disney followed up the announcement with news that Genie+ will be replaced by a NEW line-skipping service beginning later this year! Confused? Don’t worry, we’ve put together a guide that explains everything.
Starting July 24th, 2024, Genie+ at Disney World is turning into Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass. These new offerings consist of a few deviations from Genie+, so let’s get into what these changes are and what you should expect during future Disney World vacations.
Lightning Lane Multi-Pass
The Lightning Lane Multi Pass isn’t all too dissimilar from Genie+. So if you’ve become a pro at using the app-based line-skipping system, you might not feel too out of place.

This paid service allows users to bypass standby lines and use Lightning Lanes instead. Sound familiar? Now, before you say, “This is the same thing as Genie+,” there are some differences you need to know about.

Lightning Lane Multi Passes can be purchased before your Disney World vacation. They can be used for one theme park per day and allow up to three advanced Lightning Lane selections and arrival windows at the park of your choice ahead of your visit.
Selections can be made three days before your trip, but that window is extended to seven days in advance of an entire stay (up to 14 days) if you are a Disney World hotel guest.

Advance selections include tiers for Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios — Disney’s Animal Kingdom is not part of the tier system, as mostly every attraction there will be considered on equal footing.
Each park in the tier system will feature two tiers of rides. You’ll be able to select only one ride from the “choose one” tier and you can pick two rides from the second tier, or pick three if you don’t pick a ride from the “choose one” tier. We’ve laid out the tiers below:
MAGIC KINGDOM
Choose one attraction:
- Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
- Jungle Cruise
- Peter Pan’s Flight
- Space Mountain
- Tiana’s Bayou Adventure

Choose two attractions or three if you choose none above:
- The Barnstormer
- Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin
- Dumbo the Flying Elephant
- Haunted Mansion
- “it’s a small world”
- Mad Tea Party
- The Magic Carpets of Aladdin
- The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
- Mickey’s PhilharMagic
- Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor
- Pirates of the Caribbean
- Tomorrowland Speedway
- Under the Sea – Journey of the Little Mermaid

EPCOT
Choose one attraction:

Choose two attractions or three if you choose none above:
- Disney & Pixar Short Film Festival
- Journey Into Imagination with Figment
- Living With the Land
- Mission: SPACE
- The Seas with Nemo and Friends
- Spaceship Earth
- Turtle Talk with Crush

DISNEY’S HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS
Choose one attraction:
- Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway
- Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run
- Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith
- Slinky Dog Dash

Choose two attractions or three if you choose none above:
- Alien Swirling Saucers
- Beauty and the Beast — Live on Stage
- Disney Junior Play and Dance!
- For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration
- Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular
- Muppet*Vision 3D
- Star Tours — The Adventures Continue
- The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror
- Toy Story Mania

DISNEY’S ANIMAL KINGDOM
Choose three attractions:
- DINOSAUR
- Expedition Everest — Legend of the Forbidden Mountain
- Feathered Friends in Flight!
- Festival of the Lion King
- Finding Nemo: The Big Blue… and Beyond!
- It’s Tough to Be a Bug!
- Kali River Rapids
- Kilimanjaro Safaris
- Na’vi River Journey

As was the case with Genie+, once you use one of your Lightning Lane selections, you can immediately book another based on availability in the My Disney Experience app. Surge pricing still exists, so be advised that pricing for the Lightning Lane Multi Pass will vary each day.
Lightning Lane Single Pass
The Lightning Lane Single Pass sounds like a regular Lightning Lane pass and essentially is. The only big change is that you can purchase a Lightning Lane Single Pass before your trip and make advanced selections. You can purchase up to two single passes per day.
The window for advanced selections is the same as the Multi Pass.

Lightning Lane Single Pass options include the following:
MAGIC KINGDOM:
EPCOT:
DISNEY’S HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS:
DISNEY’S ANIMAL KINGDOM:

Once again, surge pricing will remain in play and Lightning Lane Single Pass prices will vary each day.
Another fun fact is that Lightning Lane Multi Passes and Lightning Lane Single Passes can be purchased simultaneously. So if you like to get all your planning done at once, you can get these purchases and selections done together.

We’ll continue to keep you posted on these changes as they roll out in late July. In the meantime, be sure to follow us here at AllEars for the latest Disney World news, tips, reviews, and more!

How will park hopping work? I have an late August “hot days” strategy-
Rope drop back to hotel (pool, lunch, club lounge, water park) then visit a different park in the evening. Really hope that after the morning bookings are used then the late days can be booked in a different park. It would be great to know this before I book the LL multi.
Do all the rides that we can purchase single lightning lane pass for have virtual cues?
Hi Momoca! The only rides with Virtual Queues at this point are TRON, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind.
It sounds like a nightmare. Who has the bandwidth to keep track of and book different rides on so many different advance timetables? Why only 1 park per day? What will it mean for trying to get rides same day in the parks? I’m baffled what benefits this is supposed to provide.
Please add information about having to be in the USA to make these reservations. I’ve heard it may be in North America vs just in USA. Plus I’m looking forward to hearing the pricing structure.
sounds to me like the old fastpass (tiers and advance selecting) except you PAY.
When you are at the app (or PC?) seven days ahead of time will the price for each day and each lightning lane for each day be posted?
This is where allears will be valuable when they start going on line for these selections. They will give tips and how it REALLY works
If I have a park hopper ticket, can I use the new system in my second park or is it restricted to only one park?
