2 Kinda Surprising Food Trends We’re Seeing in Disney World Right Now

Like anything, we begin noticing trends in Disney World for just about everything.

Mickey Pretzel in Magic Kingdom

It doesn’t seem like that long ago when those little Tsum Tsum plushes were a thing. We were all buying Wishables at one point, too. Then Disney gave us nuiMOs and Munchlings. Well, we also see trends with food, and recently we’ve noticed two that have surprised us.

Now, we’re not talking about classic Disney snacks like Mickey waffles and Mickey pretzels. No, these are two new trends we’re seeing that just kinda’ popped up out of nowhere.

Croissants

Disney World has suddenly gone CUCKOO for croissants. But Disney isn’t going to just offer up regular croissants. No, Disney is going extra on the croissants by plussing them up in unexpected ways. For example, the Croissant Cookie from Contempo Cafe at Disney’s Contemporary Resort is croissant topped with powdered sugar and milk chocolate drizzle and filled with chocolate chip cookie dough. Someone at Disney said, “Let’s shove cookie dough into a croissant.” The good news is that this idea that’s been circulating on social media among foodies is brilliant and this snack really won us over.

It didn’t end there, though. Right after that, we saw the PB & J Croissant at Everything POP at Disney’s Pop Century Resort. It’s the PB & J sandwich meets croissant with one half of the croissant dusted with powdered sugar, while the other half has a berry frosting. This one is a must for fans of peanut butter and jelly. So again, another great idea.

Well, a third special croissant has also popped up, this time at Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory at Disney’s Port Orleans — French Quarter. So you know how a croissant goes great with coffee? Well, the Espresso Croissant just lets you have both at once. This croissant is stuffed with espresso cream filling and dusted with cocoa powder and an espresso glaze.

It seems that we’ll see even more of these pop up at quick service dining spots at Disney World hotels, so we’re looking forward to seeing what other flavors Disney comes up with. This is one trend we can get behind.

Ride Cookies

You might not realize this, but did you know that many Joffrey’s locations in Disney World have cookies? Not only that but Joffrey’s has become home to some ride-themed cookies. In Magic Kingdom at Joffrey’s Revive in Tomorrowland, you can pick up the Team Blue Cookie, which is themed to TRON Lightcycle / Run. Yes, it might look a little questionable, but don’t let that fool you: this cookie actually has a delicious blueberry-lemon flavor going on.

Over in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, you can also get a purple Terror Cookie at the Joffrey’s near Tower of Terror. It’s a sugar cookie with white chocolate chips, Oreo bits, and a dusting of cinnamon sugar on top. Of course, its inspiration is the Tower of Terror.

We hope to see some more ride cookies. We haven’t seen anything turn up in EPCOT, yet, but we can imagine a Living with the Land cookie might make us smile, and perhaps we need an Everest-themed cookie for Expedition Everest in Animal Kingdom?

We’ll have to see if these trends continue throughout 2024 in Disney World, so we’ll keep you updated if we see more.
