The last thing you want when enjoying your Disney vacation is to NOT get the chance to get on your favorite attraction.

Unfortunately, things come up, and sometimes Disney has to close a ride for one reason or another. When it’s a planned closure, like a scheduled refurbishment, you can plan ahead. But sometimes it’s extra disappointing when you get to the parks and a ride you had on your to-do list ends up unexpectedly closing at the last minute!
The good news is, these closures are usually temporary. Typically, the closed ride re-opens within a few minutes or hours on the same day! The bad news is, it can be difficult to predict exactly when they will re-open. Right now, Disney World guests are having to deal with quite a few temporary closures across multiple parks.

In Disney’s Hollywood Studios, the ever-popular Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is showing as temporarily closed in the My Disney Experience app. This highly popular Star Wars attraction has a LOT of moving parts, and if one portion doesn’t function properly it can throw off the entire production.

Unfortunately, another major ride in Hollywood Studios is also on the temporarily closed list. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, one of Disney World’s major thrill rides, is also not boarding any passengers. If you’re in Hollywood Studios today, you might want to prepare for more congestion at other rides in the park as these two rides usually attract a lot of riders and those rides will need to find somewhere else to go!

Unfortunately, that’s not all! In Magic Kingdom, Prince Charming Regal Carrousel is listed as temporarily closed.

If you are in the parks and a ride suddenly shuts down without warning, here are some tips:
- Check the My Disney Experience app constantly for updates (if a wait time is displayed, you’ll know the ride has likely reopened!)
- Ask Cast Members outside of the attraction if they know what has happened and if they have a better idea about when the ride might reopen
- Come up with a plan “B” in case one of your must-do rides unexpectedly closes
- Mentally prepare little ones for potential closures by discussing the possibility at home
- Use that closure time to knock other things off of your list, take a break, grab a snack, or otherwise utilize your time in the park!
