Why You CAN’T Book Your Ticket for Disney’s 100th Anniversary Celebration Kickoff

Disney is getting ready to celebrate the company’s 100th anniversary, which will mean new rides, nighttime shows, and merchandise at the parks!

The kickoff celebration for this event will happen at Disneyland Resort, starting on January 27th, 2023. But if you were planning to book your stay to be there when the party starts, you might have to wait a little longer.

Disney announced today that theme park reservation availability for both Disneyland park and Disney California Adventure park is currently paused for all dates after January 8th, 2023. That means you cannot purchase park tickets or make park reservations for the 100th anniversary celebrations yet.

They said that the reservations will become available sometime in the coming weeks. We’ll be watching to see when those reservations open up.

You can still plan some elements of your Disneyland trip if you want to get started now. For example, you could choose your hotel and start looking at transportation and dining options (when we checked, there was availability at Disneyland’s hotels after January 8th, including during the 27th, which is the start of the anniversary celebration). But finalizing that trip with park tickets might have to wait a while longer.

However, we noticed that if you purchase tickets as part of a Disneyland vacation package (together with a hotel room), you should be able to buy tickets for dates after January 8th. You can give that a try if you want to start your planning early.

January 8th is the last day of the holiday festivities in Disneyland, so it’s possible that Disney is trying to focus on the holiday season before opening up availability for the next big event. However, they have not confirmed the reasoning behind this park pass change.
