Disney World Guests Share How Many Lines They’ve ACTUALLY Skipped With Genie+

In 2021, Disney World introduced Disney Genie+, a new type of way to skip the standby lines at certain attractions throughout the parks.

Magic Kingdom

We’ve been putting this FastPass replacement to the test since it was first rolled out, and we’ve successfully been able to ride every single Genie+ attraction in one day in not one, but TWO parks — Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios. But, we wanted to know what YOUR experience has been like using Genie+ — so we asked our readers for some help!

We asked AllEars readers on our Facebook page, “How many Lightning Lanes have YOU been able to get in WDW?” Let’s see what you had to say!

Do YOU like Disney Genie+?

Answers started rolling in quickly, as readers wanted to share their experience using Disney Genie+. Some pointed out that you can average more Lightning Lanes per day if you start planning your afternoon rides early in the morning, and are able to hold multiple bookings at once, like Peter who replied, “I averaged about 5-6. If you start planning your afternoon/evening during the morning using the 2 hour rule, you can have quite a few at once.”

Additionally, it may just depend on the park you’re in. Readers were able to book more Lightning Lanes in Magic Kingdom than any other park, but Magic Kingdom also has more Disney Genie+ attractions than any other park. Reader Elise was able to book 10 Lightning Lane rides in Magic Kingdom, but only 4 in both Hollywood Studios and EPCOT, and Heather was able to do 5 Lightning Lanes in Magic Kingdom with a group of 13 people!

One reader, Shawn, shared that they only had to wait in standby lines once during their entire 6 days in the parks, and went on to say, Rather [than] spending all our time in lines, we were able to spend all that time on rides!”

Even during peak season in Disney World, readers are able to ride more than Disney’s stated average of 2-3 rides per day, like Laura who shared, “We went during peak Spring Break time, and got about 3-4 at each park, except HS, where we got like 2.”

Test Track Lightning Lane

It seems like our readers have had overall success with Genie+ and booking Lightning Lane attractions, but it can really depend on how much work you’re willing to do to book them! Readers had the best luck when they refreshed the app regularly to check for new time slots as park guests will cancel reservations on occasion.

  1. I imagine for the techno savvy this is a walk in the park, so to speak. For those of us not so adept at using technology it is a major headache that will ruin your day. So I imagine the trick is to use one of the unofficial guide books to walk you through it until you get the hang of it. I used to use those books to plan my trip until I got the hang of it. But now you have to do everything after your vacation starts and very little beforehand. It would be nice for Disney to do one nice thing, out of so many things they have done recently to ruin the experience, and let people pay for the Genie+ ahead of time and then select rides as we used to do with fastpass. I simply don’t see what the big deal is. They already have you where they want you. You already have the park tickets and the reservations for each day. Not like, once you get to the park, you are then going to say ” Its too much of headache. Let’s go back to the resort instead”.

  2. Multiple bookings at once? How? I can see you get Jungle Cruise for the afternoon and then two hours after the park opens get something else.

    1. If you are park hopping and concentrate on getting rides for the park you are hopping to, not the park you are starting at than you could probably get reservations at least at 7 ,10, and noon so you are holding three reservations when you get to the second park at 2 and then you can possibly continue replacing each of those reservations after you clock into them.
