After COVID-related delays pushed back her maiden voyage, the Disney Wish continues to make progress towards her upcoming July debut!
The latest cruise ship in the Disney fleet has seen its share of challenges, but recently hit the water for the first time and then received a Rapunzel installation on her stern. Now, the Disney Wish has hit yet another exciting milestone!
According to the Orlando Sentinel, the Disney Wish has finally begun her slow, tugboat-assisted journey from the Meyer Werft shipyard in Germany out to the open sea.
The 1,119-foot-long, 128-foot-wide Wish will stop in Eemshaven, Netherlands, then begin sea trials in the North Sea.
Once the boat is deemed fit for sailing, the Wish will make her first transatlantic sailing to Florida in June, and then welcome passengers on its inaugural voyage July 14th, 2022.
It’s wonderful to see the Wish on the water after almost two years of construction!
The ship will feature both Frozen and Marvel themed dining venues, ‘The Little Mermaid’ on stage, and an Inside Out-inspired candy store.

Have you sailed on a Disney cruise? Tell us in the comments!
Am I the only person who wonders what it’s like to take a ship on its maiden trans-Atlantic cruise with a skeleton crew? Like how empty it would feel with all that space? Do they keep the power off to the passenger decks during it? Who would want to wander the ship during this? Just me?
You’re not alone, Brian! I would totally love to do that, actually. I would absolutely volunteer for the maiden voyage if they’d let me.
