We’ve seen a lot of changes in Disney World recently, and one of the biggest is the new Genie program that replaced FastPasses.
With Genie+, guests can pay $15 per ticket per day to reserve their spot in Lightning Lanes at some Disney World rides, which means they get to skip the standby line and get on those rides faster. Other rides will cost an additional, individual fee if you want to skip the line. But Disney just announced a BIG change coming to this system!
From December 19th, 2021, through January 3rd, 2022, some rides that were previously pay-per-ride attractions will instead be included with Genie+.
The rides that will be included with Genie+ during this time (in addition to the rides that were already included) are:
- Space Mountain (in the Magic Kingdom)
- Frozen Ever After (in EPCOT)
- Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway (in Disney’s Hollywood Studios)
- Expedition Everest (in Disney’s Animal Kingdom)
Those rides previously cost an extra fee if you wanted to skip the line, but soon they will instead be included with Genie+. So if you buy Genie+ during this time (for $15 per ticket per day), you can reserve those Lightning Lanes at no additional cost.
There will not be an option to pay separately to skip the line at those attractions during this time. If you don’t want to buy Genie+, you won’t be able to skip the line at those rides. The other pay-per-ride attractions (Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, Rise of the Resistance, and Flight of Passage) will still cost an extra fee if you want to skip the line there.
In addition, from December 19th, 2021, through January 3rd, 2022, Early Theme Park Entry for Disney World resort guests will be 60 minutes instead of 30 minutes.
That means that if you’re staying at a Disney World hotel (or another participating hotel), you can enter all four theme parks an hour before their scheduled opening time each day.

Are you heading to Disney World for the holidays? Let us know in the comments.
Is this an indication that Genie+ isn’t working out or simply due to the expected peak crowds during the holiday period?
This isngoing to make out Epcot day Epic!!! Yay!! It’s only valid through our first day at DW though, any chance of extending through the rest of January?
