Disney Wants To Change The Way You Shop

When it rains, it pours! And today has been a storm of Disney news.

In a presentation to the media today, Josh D’Amaro, the Chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products, along with other Disney officials, made some exciting announcements, including the opening date of Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure, Disney Genie, and more.

Along with these exciting announcements, D’Amaro also focused in on a different kind of subject — shopping! Recently we’ve seen Disney making some changes with shopping, such as closing 20% of Disney Stores across the world. D’Amaro mentioned that, because of the pandemic, more people are now shopping online than ever before — and that’s what Disney wants to think about now.

D’Amaro mentioned that Disney is focused  on making the shopDisney experience more seamless and personalized for guests. He also mentioned that this updated experience would somehow connect streaming videos with shopping.

  1. Sounds to me like Disney is about to add Disney merch commercials into our Disney+ viewing. Personally, NOT INTERESTED!! Disney lost most of our merch sales when they quit offering the basics and starting trying to sell overpriced “latest & greatest (in their mind)” character merchandise. I’m sure I no longer fit their demographics, but give me an original Mickey sweatshirt or polo and I’ll take that any day over a pair of “Mandalorian” boxers.
