New Signs About the Face Mask Policy Update Have Popped Up in Disney World

We’ve been back to ALL four Disney World parks since they’ve re-opened (and we’ve covered a LOT of ground).

While the Taste of Food and Wine Festival has opened and new Character Cavalcades are out and about in the parks, we’ve also been looking at all the health and safety guidelines in the parks.

Both guests and Cast Members are required to wear masks whenever they in Disney World. Since the situation continues to change, Disney has also been updating its policies to keep everyone safe. Now, people are required to be stationary and physically distanced while they eat or drink.

That means that you’ll have to stop somewhere to eat your churro or sit down at one of the tables outside to eat or drink for a moment. While we were in EPCOT earlier, we spotted signs up around the park with the newest face mask updates, even though the latest rule was just put in place!

Although Cast Members have been enforcing this rule around the parks, our waiter at a restaurant in the park reminded us that we would need to stop if we wanted to drink from the to-go water cup she gave us.

While we return to the rest of the parks in Disney World this week, we’ll keep an eye out for any of the signs popping up anywhere else!

These were the things we didn’t expect from Disney World’s re-opening!

  1. So dehydration and heat exhaustion are forgotten about and they are impeding drinking water when needed? Plus there is nowhere to sit for a “stationary” eat/drink break In the parks and quick services have limited what seating the have. Yeah, glad I cancelled the trip I was supposed to leave for this Friday. This sounds like no fun. Not going back until masks are gone. They should close if they have to micromanage everything to give the illusion that going to a theme park is safe. It is not.

  2. Unfortunately “rules” have to aim at the lowest common denominator. If they allowed drinking and walking with no mask, how long before people are just walking around all day with a drink or bottle in their hand and no mask?

  3. I’m quickly wishing we did not rebook our upcoming Disney vacation. 8 hours with a mask and you are not allowed to drink a beverage while walking. This just sounds like micromanaging and not science based to me. And yeah, I know my science!

    1. Not Science, Human Behavior… What happens is this. Your walking around you pull your mask down to take a sip or bite of food. Either on purpose or accident you “forget” to immediately put your mask back. While your mask is down “to take a sip/bite” because you are walking around, other people walk by to close as they are not paying attention to the fact you have taken down your mask. A cast member yells at you to put your mask back (guests are getting annoyed by this and cast member are spends all day telling people to put their mask back) but, the cast member doesn’t know if you were truly just taking a sip/bite or left your mask down on purpose cause you were uncomfortable.

By stepping to the side and stopping you signal to the others walking around to give more room, and the cast members don’t un-necessarily fuss at those who are truly just taking a sip/bite as there is now no question if you are walking you must wear your mask.
