NEWS: Disney World Will Open When They Feel it is “Safe to Do So”, According to Bringing Back Tourism Group

The Bringing Back Tourism Group met today as part of Florida’s Orange County Task Force. The topic of theme parks and other local attractions came up, as they play a central role in the county, as well as the state’s economy. We’ve been following the many meetings taking place between these task force groups, as conversations come up regarding the local attractions such as Disney World.

While Florida is beginning to ease its restrictions on gatherings and businesses re-opening, many are continuing to speculate when the major theme parks, including Disney World, will re-open. But, according to the Bringing Back Tourism Group, the park’s decision to re-open will be less on local government regulations and more to do with when the businesses themselves feel it is safe.

The group noted the significant role these large theme parks like Disney World play in Central Florida’s economy. In fact, it was noted that many of the hotels, restaurants, and other attractions in the area are waiting on word from Disney World, Universal Orlando, and SeaWorld to open.

To that end, the group emphasized that Disney World closing its gates sent a message to the world that the current health crisis was a serious situation. When Disney World eventually re-opens, it will send another message saying that it is safe to come out again. When discussing the timeline for these businesses to re-open, the group noted that the theme parks will open when they feel like it is safe to do so and that they have everything they need to reopen.

  1. I think Disney officials are waiting to see what happens at Shanghai Disneyland. They’re the test subjects. Just like they’re doing here in the US with businesses opening up slowly. Everyone wants to see what’s going to happen. So, Disney isn’t doing anything different than most other big corporations. We were at Disney World this past January and hadn’t plan on returning to the parks for another 2 years. So, it kind of worked out for us. I wouldn’t want to go to Disney anytime soon anyway and not because of the virus. I can’t see myself having fun with all the precautions that would be in place.
