Although Epcot’s Candlelight Processional is more well-known than its west coast counterpart, Candlelight Processional was actually born at Disneyland Resort. Click here to read the history of the beloved holiday performance that merges the Nativity story, a choir, and the spirit of the Christmas season, then scroll on down to find out which celebrity isn’t throwing away his shot to narrate this year!
Each year, Disneyland celebrates the season with a two-night performance of its Candlelight Processional. The show is performed in front of the Disneyland Park train station, and each year, one celebrity is tapped for the four performances (two performances per night).
This year’s celebrity narrator is Lin-Manuel Miranda, known to Disney fans as Jack in Mary Poppins Returns and as one of the writers behind hit songs on the Moana soundtrack, where you can also hear him singing on a couple of tracks. Of course, Miranda has many other accolades on his resume: writer and creator of Broadway mega-hit Hamilton, recipient of the Pulitzer Prize, and multiple Tony Award winner.
If you are at Disneyland tomorrow, you can catch Lin-Manuel Miranda and an astounding choir of hundreds as they perform the year’s Candlelight Processional at 5PM and 8:30PM.
