Introduction

Back to the Future-The Ride is located at the far corner of Universal Studios in the World Expo Section.  One of the most popular attractions since this incredible simulator premiered in 1991, will soon see it's final time traveling adventure.  This attraction is based on the record breaking Back to the Future movie trilogy with Michael J. Fox as Marty McFly and Christopher Lloyd as the odd but lovable Doc Brown.

Attraction

When you visit the Institute of Future Technology which houses actual props from the Back to the Future films, you will learn during the pre-show video, that Doc Brown is conducting a new series of time travel experiments. Our job as volunteers is to test out the new eight-seater convertible DeLorean. Sounds simple till you find out Biff Tannen has stolen the keys to one of new Deloreans. As Doc Brown finds out (after you do) what Biff has been up to, he goes crazy and with good reason because of Biffs high jinx, it could mean the end of the universe as we know it.

Time to jump into the new DeLorean and chase the evil Biff as he travels in the stolen experimental time traveling machine and of course, save the universe.  Scenes projected on a seven-story Omnimax screen will make you feel like you are soaring through time. The 5-minute trip takes you to Hill Valley in the year 2015, a high-speed flight through ice canyons and back to the Volcanic Era for a frightening encounter a hungry T-Rex.

This ride is described by Universal as "dynamically aggressive" and that is not an understand. Beware: This is a jarring, turbulent ride and should be avoided if you are even slightly prone to motion sickness.

Touring Tips

Back to the Future - The Ride is a Universal Express Attraction.

This attraction has a child swap area for adults that want to experience the attraction.

Minimum height: 40 inches.

Wheelchair or Electric Convenience Vehicle users may remain seated. Not recommended for: expectant mothers, or those with a history of neck or back conditions, heart trouble, conditions aggravated by fog or strobe effects or susceptible to motion sickness.

Places to Eat

International Food and Film Festival - Serving American, Asian and Italian Food. The nice thing about this food court-style restaurant is everyone can make their food choices and pay for all items at the same time, unlike the Comic Strip Cafe in Islands of Adventure where each section requires you to go though a separate cashier. Classic movies are shown on TVs in the dining area.

International Food and Film Ice Cream - A walk-up window located outside the main restaurant. Great for soft serve ice cream, waffle cones and Sundaes.

Back to the Future Hot Dogs - Great for a quick snack.
