Saratoga Springs – A Relook

Posted on
Actually, it was only a year and a half ago that I stayed at Saratoga Springs and wrote a review, so this resort was low on my list for a relook. However, a good friend of mine had some Disney Vacation Club (DVC) points that were expiring and offered them to me at the last minute. (Thank you, David.) With such short notice, Saratoga Springs was the only resort I was able to book for four nights. After an extensive look around Saratoga Springs, I could see no changes in and about the resort. When I returned home, I went through my pictures from 2013, looking for differences I may have missed during my visit. I could find only one worth mentioning (more on this later). I'm sure some small things have been altered, but they certainly were not obvious to me. Because I have nothing earth-shattering to report, this article will be about some of the things I experienced during my stay.

Jim’s Attic: The History Behind the Saratoga Springs DVC Resort

Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa officially opened May 17, 2004 with a "health-history-horses" theme. The Development Manager for the project was Kevin Cummings, which was ironically appropriate. Cummings was born and raised in Saratoga Springs, New York, the city that was the inspiration for the new Disney Vacation Club resort. In fact, at the time, his twin brother still lived in that historic upstate New York town so Kevin would go back to visit several times during the year, especially to attend the races.

As I mentioned yesterday, I will not be discussing the Treehouse Villas in this article. To learn more about these unique rooms, check out an article I … Continue reading "Saratoga Springs – Part Three"

Yesterday, I discussed the history of the land Saratoga Springs now occupies. Today, I will examine the resort itself and all that it offers. To begin with, Saratoga Springs is a Disney Vacation Club (DVC) resort. In other words, it is a “timeshare” property. However, Disney hates the word “timeshare” and you will never hear … Continue reading "Saratoga Springs – Part Two"

Saratoga Springs Leading Lines

There are a variety of factors that go into a well-composed photograph. Today we’ll look at leading lines in the form of a walkway. A leading line takes the person viewing the photograph from one point to another even if one point is the edge of the frame. As usual, I have some examples for … Continue reading "Saratoga Springs Leading Lines"

Solo Trip to Orlando – Disney Resorts, Downtown & the Last Bus

It was my last vacation day in the sunshine state and I managed to sleep in a little. I finished packing my bags, checked out, and loaded up the turbo charged station wagon. There was only one thing I wanted for breakfast and I headed to Saratoga Springs for it. Mickey waffles are delicious and … Continue reading "Solo Trip to Orlando – Disney Resorts, Downtown & the Last Bus"
