For years, one of my family’s favorite holiday traditions is a visit to see “snow” just outside the gates of Walt Disney World. The town of Celebration hosts “Now Snowing Nightly” – a flurry of soap bubbles — from Thanksgiving through New Year’s Eve, and it’s open to the public at no charge. It’s funny how our topic for this week is in line with my first visit to New Orleans. Soon I will be able to draw comparisons between Disneyland’s homage and the real French Quarter and surrounding area. My friend has already informed me that finding a non-alcoholic mint julep will be impossible. I guess we’ll … Continue reading "Disney Pic of the Week – New Orleans Square"

Our fourth day of vacationing was the most relaxed which might be an odd statement once you read all that we did. The morning began as usual with eating breakfast in our room at All-Star Movies. We’d each bought cereal, milk, and fruit and had the same thing almost every day. I also had some … Continue reading "Newbie and the Geek Take Downtown Disney and More"

It’s “snowing” near Disney World in town of Celebration through Dec. 31

Each year, the town of Celebration, which is located in Walt Disney World's back yard, hosts "Now Snowing Nightly" from Thanksgiving through New Year's Eve. The snow -- um, soap bubbles -- falls daily at 6, 7, 8 and 9 p.m. on Market Street. We've been going to this event for years, but it was a little different this year. Despite the cold temperatures, it didn't seem as wintry because the "snow" was not allowed to accumulate on the brick street. That was disappointing because it certainly affected the make-believe wintertime look of the street.

The first installment can be found here. Day 3 Guess who called? Amanda. Yeah, I don’t know anyone named Amanda either. She started out trying to be friendly and I finally had to ask who she was. She was from Wyndham Bonnet Creek and wanted to make sure we had everything we needed. Yep, we’re … Continue reading "The Mother(s) of All Trips – The Middle"
