The Jungle Cruise is my son's favorite ride, so we were looking forward to the antics at this new restaurant. Our waitress was great and really got into character.

The food was just OK. They serve the bread with some kind of tea and honey sipping sauce and some of it is on the bread...did not like it. I ordered the noodle bowl and it was just OK. My husband had the steak salad and had the same opinion. My son LOVED his mahi mahi and we also like the appetizer we had. I think I would try it again and order something different.

I really, really wanted to give a positive review on this, but unfortunately, I can't. We ate here on the first soft opening day in December 2015 and loved it. This most recent visit was in April 2016. We were so looking forward to the great food options again. I will say that the food was still great! Even the kids loved the fish. But, there is something not quite right yet at this location. The wait staff was missing in action most of the meal. There seemed to be a bread plate shortage. The waitress took them away even as my youngest (5) tried to hold onto it saying "i'm sorry, I'm still eating my bread". Took it anyway. The staff just didn't seem to click here. Hopefully they are just working through being new.

Then there is the bathrooms....ugh. The decor is beautiful, but it honestly looked like it had not been cleaned in days. Not the typical Disney standard. I know it has nothing to do with the food, but yuck!!

Finally, there was the discount for Tables in Wonderland. I checked at the hostess stand and they confirmed it was still available at the location. When it came time for the bill, the waitress said no, they don't offer that discount. Even after explaining what I was told out front, there was nothing.

I really wanted to love this restaurant! I may give it another try in the future, but cautiously.

Pros:

Food was very good

Cons:

Bathrooms were so dirty, the wait staff was never around

My family and I ate here on our last trip. Over all liked the experience. Food was good but had a limited menu.

Pros:

Fun theme and fun cast members.

Cons:

Limited menu especially for gluten allergy.

Once was enough. Food is bland. Service was rushed. We ordered chicken and rice, and lamb chops.

Pros:

They had a reservation available for time we wanted.

Cons:

Expensive and tasteless

We visited Skipper Canteen on a recent trip and we’re excited to try it, as we had heard primarily good things.

While the theming is excellent and it was fun to basically have our own personal Jungle Cruise skipper as our waiter, we found the food to be a bit underwhelming. We LOVED the complimentary cheesy bread to start the meal. However, I got the “Tastes Like Chicken” based on several recommendations, and did not find it to be anything overly noteworthy. Tasted fine, not bad, but not as good as I was hoping.

We thought that Skipper Canteen made a case for being the best Table Service restaurant in Magic Kingdom, but also feel that that is not saying too much, as we think the pro-tip in MK is to focus on the delicious snacks and Quick Service, which as a bonus leaves more time for the massive amount of rides.

Pros:

Awesome Theming Jungle Cruise comedy brought to a meal CHEESY bread

Cons:

Entrees underwhelming Can take some time from park attractions, so perhaps better to choose better quality food at quick service

Ate here 9/14 on DP. Arrived 1/2 hr early and was told they could seat us right away. Ended up waiting 1/2 hr so really took us on our actual ressie time. This was our first time here. dh & I was celebrating our 25th anniv with a no kids trip and wanted to try restaurants that the kids wouldn't. Was seated at a very small table for two and had a very nice server Paul who explained items on menu (as you have to be able to eat different things). Ordered shu mai dumplings as app. Really enjoyed them but afterwards figured out the meal had a lot of salt in it as my dh swelled up. I ordered the chicken and dh ordered char sui pork. Food was ok my chicken had a panko crust but not seasoned at all. everything was served over rice and mixed veg. We are everything cuz we were hungry but really satisfied. Had coconut bar and jasmine rice for dessert and out of the two liked the jasmine rice the best. Restrooms were small and it seems that when your a party of two you end up sitting right next to the restrooms and/or you sit right next to a very noisy family. This was the first time in our 25 yrs to be actually be without kids and really wanted the peace and quiet and just didn't get it here. The waiter was nice but never even acknowledged our anniversary

Pros:

large seating, cast members interactions

Cons:

food ok tables for 2 very small

I wanted to love this place. I love Jungle Cruise, I love the jokes, I love the theme and decor. I just wasn't blown away by the food. The soup changes daily and I wasn't sure what it was. The char siu pork was swimming in sauce which got onto everything else. The Kungaloosh dessert that people raved about was SO SMALL. literally two small bites. the price of it wasn't small. the only good thing about that dessert was the in-house carmel cashew ice cream on it. I didn't think the food lived up to the hype. Maybe I'll go back and try something else....

Pros:

The theme and atmosphere, service, the jokes

Cons:

A little overhyped regarding the food, can be loud inside

While the food was only ok, our server was good and funny, but what really made this for us was the host who sat us. While we were waiting to be called in, a senior gentleman was working the host stand. He was telling the funniest skipper/dad jokes, but he was so genuinely thrilled to be telling them, and even more thrilled people were laughing at them. He was adorable and made our day, in the way only Disney cast members can.

Pros:

Skipper jokes

Cons:

the food

Excellent theming- felt immersed in the spirit of Adventureland/Jungle cruise right away. Charming waiter who made us laugh. Appetizer was amazing. Cachapas - I’d totally get these as a meal next time.
The entrees were a bit meh. The waiter said the Grilled Steak was his favorite dish on property, so
it was a must try. He also recommended the Senegal Sal’s short ribs. The steak was good but basic. Compared to the appetizer it just was a bit boring. The flavor of the short ribs was great but the meat- which was described as fork tender- was barely able to be cut by a knife.
I would absolutely give this one more try with all this in mind!

Pros:

Theming Fun waitstaff Delicious appetizer

Cons:

Meh meat

This was our final park day and final full day of our trip so I was really worn out and ready to sit down in the AC for a while as I already had a bit of a headache brewing. We were sat in the S.E.A. room which I was super happy about! I'm not sure I just chose the wrong meal or what happened but I honestly wasn't terribly impressed by the food here. The themeing is amazing though, but my stomach also started hurting pretty bad after eating here. I ordered the pork and it was more fat than meat, but I did enjoy the Kungaloosh dessert quite a bit. I had to leave my friend all by herself to finish up the evening and went back to the hotel early and crashed. I would still recommend this to Jungle Cruise fans and those looking for a fabulously themed eatery with some slightly more exotic flavors.

Pros:

Great themeing throughout the entire restaurant and the wait staff definitely keep the puns rolling strong.

Cons:

Probably not the fault of the establishment and more the fault of my own body not working properly but I wound up pretty sick after this meal.
