We dined at Kona on April 11, and it was wonderful! Four of us shared sticky wings potstickers - Yum! As entrees, we had the almond chicken, tuna, lamb, and duck. They were all very, very good and we enjoyed sharing bites. We couldn't not have dessert, so we ordered the chocolate fondue, creme brulee, and they let me order bread pudding from O'Hana! Awesome! I was over the moon and enjoyed every spoonfull.

Pros:

Fabulous Food and atmosphere

Cons:

Can't think of any

We had an ADR and ate lunch here on 4/5/13. First time and won't be the last! 15 year old son had surf and turf burger and said it was the best burger he ever had! Daughter loved kids ravioli and especially the make your own sundae that came at the end!! Overall great place to take the monorail and take a break from the park. Can't give it a 10 because I just wish Disney wouldn't keep increasing their prices so much for those not on the dining plan and the price for a soda is ridiculous! Great option, would go again!!

Pros:

Delicious!

The wait for this restaurant was probably the worst of the whole trip - close to an hour even though we arrived earlier than our reservation time. Aside from that, the meal was spectacular. The waitress was very nice and prompt. Below was what we ordered:

Lump Crab Cakes - SOOO good, especially with a squeeze of lime. We ordered these as an extra outside of dining plan, and it was totally worth it.

Coconut Almond Chicken - Very good! The dish is half salad, and half chicken, but the combination of the two is excellent. It has great flavor complexity and isn't too heavy.

Banana-chocolate Creme Brulee - Very good creme brulee, I really liked the flavor. I enjoyed this more than the creme brulee I ordered as Chefs de France.

Pros:

Food, service

Cons:

Wait time

We love the Kona Cafe, and no trip to WDW is complete without a visit! We use it as a way to take a break from the MK for a little while. We secure an early ADR (5-5:30) and leave a little early to enjoy the atmosphere in the Poly.

We were there on Tuesday, 3/26 for dinner. I requested a table toward the rear of the restaurant because it can get loud in the front. Our server was very nice (sorry, I have forgotten her name) and was always near-by. We ordered quickly and waited for the bread and macadamia nut butter - YUMMY!! Our dinners came out soon thereafter.

I ordered my favorite - Pan Asian Noodles with Chicken - and it didn't disappoint! DH had the Teriyaki Steak - he ordered it Medium, and it came out a bit more done than medium, but he enjoyed it just the same. DD had the Kona Salad, which she enjoyed. We didn't have room for dessert this trip. As always, a great experience!

Pros:

Close to MK

Cons:

Can get loud

I love Kona Café. It was our fourth time here and every time is better for me. Since the bread, everything is very tasty. The three course menu we had other ocassions wasn´t in the menu anymore, but they had very tasty options.(the teriyaki meat, the duck, the clams. The desserts are the best. My kids (15 and 12) love the chocolate fondue with fresh fruit, chocolate banana creme brulee for me. Our server was a young man from Morocco and he was very helpful and nice. The only thing I didn´t like was the drink I´ve before dinner, but It was a bad choice. We´ll be back in our next WDW visit. (soon, I hope)

This is definitely a hidden gem and shouldn't be overlooked. We've been coming here for 9 years. Our server was great and attentive. This was the first dinner of out 8 day trip. For starters, they bring out this amazing bread with an amazing macadamia but butter! I can eat the whole thing myself. It's so good. As a drink on the dining plan, I got a pina colada. For dinner I had the noodles, which was really good. My wife had the teriyaki steak and my mother in law had the coconut chicken. All of them were very, very good. I do miss my shrimp and scallops dinner and hope they bring it back. The desserts are amazing! You can't go wrong with any choice. It was 2 year old sons birthday and they brought out a cupcake with a chocolate drawing of Lilo and Stitch. My son loved it and was happy. The server even used plates behind my son's ears to make him look like Mickey. I love Kona Cafe and can't wait to go back!

We were a party of 17 had dinner on 2/17. We were seated promptly and all at one table! Our server was excellent. My dh says that the pork chop is the best thing he ate all week! The banana chocolate creme brulee was wonderful! My only complaint is that it is very noisy as the restaurant is located in the lobby of the main building.

Can't give this a 10 because I waited (alone) for almost 20 minutes past my ADR time.

That said, once I was seated, the service and food were fantastic!

Pros:

Food, service

Cons:

Long wait for a table after ADR time

This was our favorite meal of our trip. I had hoped to make reservations at 'Ohana, but there were no slots available. As a backup, I looked at the reviews of Kona Cafe - and one AllEars member had described it as the best kept secret of the Polynesian. I have to agree.

My husband had the Kona crusted pork chop and it was outstanding. I had the mahi-mahi with Swiss chard and forbidden rice and that was amazing too!
The kids were happy enough with their meals (shrimp kabobs and mickey ravioli). We were all thrilled to be able to order the (non alcoholic) specialty drinks as part of our dining plan - and it made the evening even more outstanding.

When the specialty pineapple bread and butter came, we fell in love - but I noticed there was something in the butter - turned out to be macadamia nuts which I'm allergic to. When I asked the server about it, he made sure to go back to the chef and make sure that nothing else coming to our table would have macadamias - without me asking him to.

We'll be sure to go there any time we're back!

Food and Service
