This was so handy to have. We were able to spend the day in Hollywood Studios and take a resort break during the afternoon. Came back for after hours, and all the lines went down to basically nothing.

Pros:

Shorter Lines, less people.

Cons:

None

I went with my family last year in July. This was before Galaxy's Edge's opening, which I was personally bummed about, but overall, this experience was truly amazing. It was raining earlier in the day, so my family contemplated even going while we were on the bus ride to HLY Studios. But, as we were checked into the park, the rain stopped. We got to ride Rock 'N' Roller Coaster about 3 times in a row with no waits. There are a few spots in the park where there are hotspots full of people, especially around the Tower of Terror. We only went on that ride once in a full cart. The land was spacious to walk around freely, there was no one bumping into you. Over by Toy Story Land, there were numerous hot spots of people wanting to get on the rides. Free food is given out, just go up to the vendor and tell them what you want, and they will gladly give it to you with a smile on their face. Little wait times to meet characters, and at that event, only Toy Story and Star Wars characters were available to meet. With the rides at Toy Story Land, we were only lucky enough to ride it once, with the waits being around 15-20 minutes each, around 25 for Slinky Dog Dash. My family left a little early from the event (about 20 minutes before closing) and all we did was talk about how much we had fun. It is such an amazing experience, and I would recommend it 100 times again. It might be something to look into as part of your checklist if you want to get on all the rides in one day, book an After Hours you'll be able to do it in less than 3 hours.

Pros:

Less Crowds, Free Food, Night Setting, No Need for Fastpass

Cons:

Some areas had hotspots of people, tickets are a little costly

We did this last summer, before Galaxy's Edge opened. We got to do everything we wanted in the park, except for the Muppets, and it allowed us to visit another park again instead of spending the day at Hollywood Studios. I know, that this has changed now with Galaxy's Edge and the Mickey Train ride now opened, but it was fantastic for us at the time.

Pros:

So much to do. Saved us from having to use a day to visit this park.

Cons:

Now with more attractions opened it would be hard to do everything, and we couldn't get the Muppets in before the theater closed.

This was a great event and we'd do it again in a second. We did have a bit of difficulty figuring out where to get our wristbands (we asked 4 cast members, 3 of whom all gave us a different answer and one didn't even know the event was happening) but finally found the ticket booth by the fountain near the old Starring Rolls Bakery. Once the event started, we noticed the cast members being extremely diligent checking bands. In 3 hours, we rode slinky dog coaster twice (each time was about 15 min wait), rockin roller coaster 4 times, star tours twice, tower of terror four times, saw Hollywood Minnie, Sorcerer Mickey, rode Toy Story Mania three times and had two rounds of ice cream bars, soda and popcorn. There was a fantastic photopass photographer taking family pictures in front of the large Woody at the entrance of Toy Story Land. Lines were a bit long for the Toy Story characters, at least 20 minutes (likely longer) but the rest of the event was very minimal waits. Hope to attend this same event at the other parks and really hope this continues to be a limited guest event.

These kinds of events seem to be the future. We went to two of the "free" early magic hour mornings, which were disasters. Both mornings (one at Epcot and one at Magic Kingdom), several key rides were down and crowds were so crushing that by the time we got through the second resort/wristband check inside the park, the hour was over. I hate paying for lower waits but this After Hours event was much better than the Disney hotel guest magic hours (which really are not a perk for guests anymore, just a way to crowd control for Disney).

Pros:

very minimal waits!

Cons:

a bit disorganized at first, differing info about wristbands and $$$
