Reviews of Dine Around the Monorail
The new Highway in the Sky Dine-Around will give guests priority boarding on the monorail for a dining journey around Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, Polynesian Village Resort and Contemporary Resort. Includes stops at The Waveâ€¦of American Flavors, the Polynesian, Citricos, and the Grand Floridian's lobby, then back to the Contemporary Resort for dessert, cordials and coffee on a private patio with a view of the Magic Kingdom fireworks over Cinderella Castle.
Offered Tuesday, Friday and Sunday. Cost is $150 plus tax and gratuity. Valet parking is included. For reservations, 407-WDW-DINE.

having been lucky enough to visit Disneyworld many, many times, we are able to look for and enjoy some of the "extra" special offerings that are available.....I was particularly excited at the prospect of the HITSDA and it delivered on all levels...the week prior to our arrival I received a very detailed email outlining all and any information that we would need....presenting ourselves at The Wave we were welcomed by a great team of at least 5 cast members that were with us for the entire evening.....each stop we made at the three resorts there was a wonderful presentation of not only food & drink, but specific employees of that hotel that described some of their responsibilities... at The Poly we were serenaded by a cast member with music from his homeland, Hawaii....our final stop back at The Contemporary was to watch the fireworks...it was a private outdoor patio and it was quite chilly that evening.....we were immediately provided with big, warm blankets and more were searched out when we requested extras....a huge thank you and thumbs up to the entire team...what a great evening to remember..

This was a special vacation with my two grown daughters, I thought this would be fun, drinking and dining. We received an email to meet/check-in at the Wave. We went to the Wave and no one seemed to know about the event, finally a security guard said, we were to meet by monorail security. After finding a little sign we were ushered into an area in the corner by security, there were a few seating groups. No one spoke to us, we were offered a drink with no napkin or silverware and given a cup of soup, wow! Next stop Polynesian, we were in an area right inside the doors with highboy tables, no chairs, the deco was nice, other drink – very sweet and three small appetizers. On to the GF, we had cheese and bubble in the tea room, then were moved into Citricos in two large groups, dinner was very dry piece of white fish and a silver dollar size piece of beef tenderloin. Off to the Contemporary for desserts, 4 floor patio area under the monorail, the seating was directly under the tracks, I couldn’t think about eating with dirt coming off the track above you. There was not enough seating for the group so half the group had to stand. The coffee and drinks were fine, 2 desserts with a box of choc to take. Not the evening I envisioned at Disney.

Our four family members (including two teenagers) participated in Highway in the Sky in March. The food was wonderful and they were great about accommodating my teens with fun drinks and my husband with beer instead of cocktails. Loved the monorail ride and meeting new people. The only reason for not giving it a 10 was - it would have been nice to have a slightly cheaper price for those not drinking alcohol and the dessert ending could be improved. The location was a little odd but great views of the fireworks! All and all it was an amazing and very special dining experience!

What a great time! This is dining around the monorail restaurants and was awesome! We started at the Wave in the Contemporary where we met up with the rest of the group and we were all given lanyards to wear and to keep. The chef and manager came out and spoke with us. There were also 3 cast members who were with us all night. We got a small cup of a pea and mushroom soup and a Bay Lake Tower Sunset martini... both were very good. Then we were brought up to the monorail where we were brought to an empty car just for our group. There were 24 of us. We traveled to the Polynesian where the manager spoke to us and then we went to Trader Sam's Grotto where we were outside at high top tables. Everyone got their specialty drink - the Hippopoto-maitai... wow! That was really good! Then we got 3 small appetizers - tuna on a cucumber, a thin sliced beet with goat cheese and then pork belly on porcini mushrooms - all excellent. The cast members gave us a 5 minute warning before we were going to the next stop - they were all so nice. Then we got back on the monorail into our private car and got off at the Grand Floridian. There we went to Citricos where they placed us at a few tables. It was really nice getting to know everyone in the group and everyone was very friendly. At Citricos we had a choice of red or white wine... some people took both! Dinner was seared scallops and a short rib over a pureed vegetable... fantastic! The bread on the table was fresh and delicious as well. Then we were taken to the Tea Room in the Grand Floridian. We were given a cheese platter to be shared between 2 people and a glass of champagne. This was really nice as we were the only ones in the room and it was really relaxing after dinner. The cheese was a nice variety and tasty. Then it was time to move on again, back on the monorail and we got off at the Contemporary. There we were taken to the 4th floor balcony to an area reserved for our group. There were 2 desserts, coffees, soda and Bailey's! They had some benches too and this is where we watched the fireworks, Wishes, going off in the Magic Kingdom. The music for the fireworks was piped in too. Once it was over and we were leaving, everyone in the group got a small box of chocolates!
We really had a great time and would probably do it again sometime in the future. It was just my husband and I but we talked with many of the people along the way as well as the cast members. We felt it was a good bang for the buck too! If you have the opportunity - GO!

Disney knocked it out of the ballpark with this dining experience! By the end of the evening, everyone in the group was interacting and having a wonderful time. We had three Cast Member hosts that stayed with us the entire evening.
We started out at the Wave for a cocktail and small cup of soup, the chef and manager came out to explain the items and speak with the guests individually. He was the only chef we interacted with during the evening, too bad the rest of restaurants didn’t offer the same involvement.
Next stop was at the Polynesian for another cocktail and more appetizers – pork belly, tuna and some sort of beet salad, the pork belly was the best out of the three, but the beet salad was also quite good, however all the dishes were very small servings.
The third stop was The Grand Floridian for dinner, our group was divided up into three different tables and our food was served immediately – beef short ribs and scallops. I’m not a huge fan of seafood, but the scallops were very good. After dinner we were whisked off to the lounge for cheese and sparkling wine, both were excellent.
Our last stop was back at the Contemporary Resort for dessert. There were two choices for dessert, an orange cake and a flourless chocolate cake. I love chocolate but the chocolate cake was as hard as a rock, the orange cake was light but not much of an orange taste. They also had an assortment of sodas, coffee and water.
We had a great time socializing with the other diners and by the end of the evening, no one wanted to leave. The Hosts were also great and we enjoyed talking to them as well. The only negative is we were on a schedule, so we were rushed through a couple of the stops. It is hard to enjoy your food when we only had a short time at each stop. I was nervous booking this event because of the price, but it was well worth it and highly recommend it to others.
