I have been to Disney well over 35 times and have stayed in multiple properties. Since having a family, we have not stayed anywhere else other than All Star Movies. Every time I think we might try something else, some thing reminds me why we always come back here. The value is fantastic, it is so kid friendly, I love the addition of the fridge to the room, except that it did take away from clothing space but we made do. We will be returning again. The cast members were so helpful when I had a major health scare with my asthmatic daughter, I was VERY impressed with their response!

Pros:

Family friendly, great value

I need to preface this review by saying that when my DD12 and I go to Disney, we stay at the Poly. However, we stayed here at All-Star Movies from Feb. 17-23 for my daughter's 7th Grade Science field trip with about 80 other students and 30 chaperones. We were all situated in the Mighty Ducks section. The hotel served its purpose. We were really only there to shower and sleep. The rooms were always clean. I don't know if that's because I left out a Mousekeeping tip envelope every morning or not. I was in a room with 3 boys. Since I got a bed of my own, we had a rollaway bed as well. Even without the rollaway, the room just seemed tiny. There definitely wasn't enough room to put your clothes away if you wanted to. As far as the buses, I can't comment. We had our own chartered buses that took us everywhere. I would recommend this place to anyone who was looking to save money. There's nothing wrong with the hotel, I just don't like the motel feel it gives off. Maybe I've just become a Disney snob. Either way, we had a great time.

Pros:

Clean rooms

Cons:

Small rooms

On a recent trip to WDW I decided to stay at All Star Movies for the 3rd time. I love this resort :).

The second I got off the Magical Express, I was greeted by warm and friendly Cast Members who held the door open for me and welcomed me to the resort. Check in was super easy as always. It would have only taken a minute or to to get my Key To the World Card but I always stop to chat with the Cast Member behind the desk. I love talking to Cast Members.

I was put up in a room on the ground floor of one of the 101 Dalmatians buildings. The room locks have been changed from sliding your card to now you need only tap it against the lock to open the door. Perfect for when you have your hands full

The room was kinda small if you traveling with a family, but I was alone so it fit my needs perfectly. The room had 2 double beds, 1 bathroom, a small table in the corner, a dresser with 3 drawers that a large flat screen TV set on top of, a wall safe, Ironing board and iron, and a hairdryer.

Along one wall was a framed picture of a Dalmatian puppy and Cruella De Vil. The border along the wall featured pictures of the resorts 5 themes (Toy Story, Fantasia, 101 Dalmatians, Mighty Ducks, and The Love Bug).

When I walked in the room, I saw that Mousekeeping left a towel and 2 wash cloths folded up into the classic 3 circle Mickey head as well as a small bird made out of a towel.

I also discovered that Disney magic as at its peak as my luggage actually beat me to my room!

I was in the 101 Dalmatians wing. The building I was in had a giant statue of Purdie and the other had giant statue of Pongo out front. The stairwells were giant fire hydrants. In between the 2 building the sidewalk was a bunch of giant red white and blue dog treats. A statue of a puppy sat watching a TV that guests could stand behind for a photo op. Tiny paw prints were in the concrete making it look as if a puppy walked in the cement for it was dry.

Cinema Hall is the main building as is where the main lobby is along with the arcade, food court, and gift shop. Reel Fun arcade is small but has a nice selection of games.

I only had one meal at the World Premier Food Court but it was very good. I had a meatball sub. It comes with coleslaw or homemade chips but I was allowed to get 2 bread sticks instead.

The sub was nice and toasted and the meatballs were large and flavorful. The bread sticks were nice and soft and had a great garlic flavor. The food court had plenty of seating.

Donald's Double Feature was the resort's gift shop and had a nice selection of hats, shirts, plush dolls, pins, and other Disney items as well as soda, water, beer, and small snacks.

The only complaint I had was the buses. All 3 of the All Star resorts (Sports Music and Movies) share a bus line with Movies being the last stop. There are few few seats on Disney buses and they were always crammed full.

Other than that, this is a great resort if your looking to save a few bucks. I only need a room for a bed and shower so it's perfect 🙂

Pros:

Easy on the budget, All the perks of staying on property, Wonderful themeing

Cons:

Shared buses

Stayed at ASMovies week of 3/18. Requested preferred room in 101 Dalmations, bottom floor, connecting rooms (we needed 2). Received all requests. Arrived 9am and rooms ready. DD4 got sick on day3 with flu, resort gave us roll away bed so she didn't have to share with grandma. no charge. They also arranged transportation to Centra Care so that we could take our DD to seek medical attention no charges even though we tipped since we were so grateful at all the help. Needed prescriptions filled, front desk faxed to Turner Drug who delivers until 10pm. very grateful castmember delivered to room when delivered. Left backpack in HS on day 2 and didn't realize it until back at resort again cast members sent someone to retrieve it since it had medication in it. Our room was 1718 &1719 view was of trees, shrubs very quiet, mousekeeping was excellent and left towels animals. I would highly recommend this resort since they were so accommodating to my family during our stay will always come back.We were to have dinner at 1900 Park Fare the day my DD got sick and had to cancel, front desk was able to rearrange our ressies so that we could go the next day. We ate at the food court and everyone was pleased. My only wish is that they would have a coffee maker and ice maker in room to freeze water for parks. Never waited for buses and only had to share buses when going to HS. We had late flight leaving and they let us check out late and helped us with all the luggage. Totally loved this our 2nd trip to the World.

Pros:

cost, resort staff

This was our first trip to WDW! It was so much fun!! We were a group of 10 including an infant. We stayed at All Star Movies a whole week (Jan. 26th-Feb.2nd 2013).

We were in three rooms (side by side) in the Herbie Love Bug section. It was very peaceful and we had a beautiful view of the 'foresty' area. The rooms were clean and were the size of a Best Western room. Each room had a mini fridge which was useful for storing all the drinks we accumulated (we were on the quick-dining plan).

From the airport we took the Magical Express. The bus driver was really funny and everyone was cheering as we passed under the "Welcome to WDW" sign!

Most of the bus was headed to All Star Movies and even then we waited no longer than 5 minutes to get to check in. Efficiency is an art at Disney World! We've been to several theme parks in Texas and WDW has the shortest wait times for everything (from food lines to ride lines). We were very impressed!

At the front desk all the females were given flowers and the kids balloons! Every one is so friendly and happy. After unpacking we enjoyed walking around the resort. Our rooms seemed to be the farthest from the food court and it was about a 4min walk.

Everyone's favorite past time away from the parks was the pool. It is beautiful, it was never crowded and there is a nearby bar area for the adults. My favorite memory from the trip is all of us hanging out around the pool just talking. The weather was perfect! We visited the pool 4 times during out stay.

Bus transportation: we didn't rent a car and used Disney transportation for everything. The longest we waited was 8 mins and it wasn't at the resort it was at Downtown Disney. Our family travelled together except for in the afternoons when my Dad would leave the parks for a nap, he said it took less than 10 minutes to and from the parks to the rooms. He'd meet back with us at the parks at night. We never had a problem even though we had strollers and backpacks. I loved the busses because it meant that we didn't have to worry about maps and parking, etc.

The food court is large and we always found tables for all 10 of us to eat together. The food was great! We ate here every morning and several nights. Try the Orzo soup it is delicious!

I loved the gift shop, they even helped me locate a store that sold Disney comic books (Downtown Disney). My whole family got bitten by the pin trading bug and the resort would have pin trading times (around 5:30pm). Addictive! The arcade was very cool. The first game when you enter: it's a wall of lights and the objective is to hit the lights as they blink, the more you hit the higher the score. We got very competitive, it was so much fun!!

I recommend this resort to all Disney lovers. We are already planning our next trip back.

location, value, cast members

We stayed at the All Star Movies Resort for the second time April 29th -May 2nd. It was a short trip for myself, dd5 and a friend of ours who had never stayed on site.

I did the online check in which I really encourage you to do. We did it 2 years ago and it worked out great then and didn't disappoint this time either. We used the special luggage tag for our checked baggage this time. I was nervous but gave it a try anyway. We arrived at 11:30 at the resort. Check in was super quick-5 mins total with no wait in line. Our room was ready and when we opened the door our checked luggage was in it waiting for us! The staff was courteous and efficient.

We stayed in the Toy Story building # 9 room 9830. It was very quite with no noise whatsoever but close enough to the pool, food court and main building that it was worth the extra # for a preferred room. There was a small fridge-just a warning-there were no controls on it so we could not adjust the temp to make things colder and our stuff was cool not cold-no freezer with it.

The A/C would not adjust to below 68 degrees and is motion sensitive so our room was warmer at the end of the day than what we wanted and cooler at night which was good. We got a Mickey Mouse towel creation on the bed but nothing after that.

Mousekeeping was great and when we requested a bedrail and extra towels for swimming it was brought to us within 10 minutes. There is also a clothesline in the shower which was a surprise so bring a few clothes pins to hang your swim suits.

Food court was never crowded and we always found seating by the T.V/kid area no matter what time of day we were there. Food choices were great-with fruits and veggies available as well as yogurt and cold cereal with juices and milk-get the refillable mug-its a great value and any counter service in the parks will give you free ice water to put in it-bring packets of lemonade or ice tea to add to it if you prefer.

Bus service was great and rarely crowded. The longest we waited was 10 mins. At times we were the only 3 on the bus! At the Magic Kingdom, the longest wait time was 33 mins and at Epcot, we didn't wait at all for anything longer than 5 mins!..

Over all...will stay here again --Disney great job!

I have stayed at all the Values, except for Art of Animation, but All Star Movies is the one that began my on-site stays. Now I rotate the Values out year after year and Movies still remains my favorite 🙂 I would especially recommend it for people with small children because of the giant Disney icons.

Pros:

great themes, food court, cleanliness

I have stayed at all the all star resorts and i actually loved the decor of movies best.. have stayed in Fantasia 2x Herbie 2x and Mighty ducks 1x.
since i am a park person, i dont "hang out" at the resort much... use the pools only on occasion (july-aug trips) rooms are clean, service is disney quality and the decor is adorable. food court is large, many tables and even when crowded it isnt hard to find a table. selections are good for a food court and although they dont change much the food isnt bad...and affordable.. usually just eat breakfast in the resort... favorites include mickey waffles, omelets, and the platter. lunch & and dinner usually in the parks or other resorts. now, with fees for luggage on the planes, i take less clothes and use the laundry facility. plenty of washers and dryers and never had to wait. nice arcade, the nieces loved it..and good bus service to the parks.. since i prefer longer stays i usually stick to all star and pop resorts...so i can afford 14+ days. highly recommend

Pros:

price decor

Cons:

usually crowded with big groups

My 15 yo daughter and I stayed here mid-September 2013 and were VERY pleasantly surprised! Stayed in the "Love Bug" section. Having stayed at POR/AB 3 times previously, we weren't positive we were going to "feel" it but we did! (A friend and her two daughters also stayed and enjoyed it!). Liked that ASMO is a bit more compact as far as the lay-out than the other All-Star resorts.

The room was clean and perfect size for the two of us. Lucky for us, the mousekeeper(s) left us something each day. It was nice to have a fridge although I did miss the two sinks, but not a deal-breaker.

The food court was better than we had expected. Had heard it was crowded, but we never had a problem with finding a table. Ate by the pool one morning, which was nice. The food was GREAT! Had a turkey dinner one night after coming back from a very rainy day at DHS and it was SO good. We love breakfast at Disney food courts too so that alone was worth the stay.

Were able to enjoy the pool one morning. Very nice, not crowded at all.

Gift Shop had everything we would expect.

Bus Stop was easy to find and busses were not a problem for us at any point. Never waited more than 10 minutes to/from ASMO/parks and there was never such a crowd that it was uncomfortable.

CMs at the front desk were very helpful. Only thing was the check-out/boarding passes near-snafu. (Flying Delta you go to the airline check-out NOT the front desk - now I know - lol!)

LOVED the theming of the buildings - SOOO much fun to take pictures!

We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again, whether on a limited budget or by choice!

Pros:

Theming, Cost, CMs, clean

Travel party of 8, 3 rooms. Checked in online, arrived to resort by 10:30am. Requested ajoining rooms, or at least nearby, NOT GRANTED. After first night we were told we needed to change rooms due to the Special Olympics checking in. UNACCEPTABLE! Room was not clean when we opened door, dirty towels left by mousekeeping. Bugs in room. TERRIBLE. Will never stay here again. Food court was disorganized, understaffed and crowded. There is no fridge in the rooms either.

Pros:

price

Cons:

cleanliness, crowds, customer service
