2014 Inaugural Avengers Super Heroes Half Marathon

Posted on
The Avengers Super Heroes Half Marathon Weekend was held at Disneyland November 14-16. This is a new runDisney event, which of course means it has the “I” word, Inaugural, associated with it. 🙂 All events sold out very quickly, but Lee and I were able to register for the half marathon. This was the third … Continue reading "2014 Inaugural Avengers Super Heroes Half Marathon"

2014 Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend – Part 2

Posted on
Another Disneyland Half Marathon successfully completed! That makes seven for us. We had a good race, and felt strong despite running a 10K the day before. Even though at Disneyland we have the advantage of proximity to the starting line, we still had to get up pretty for a race that starts at 5:30! Lee was happy that the Hearthstone Lounge in the hotel opened at 4:00 so he could get his morning coffee. (All of the coffee-type places in the Disney hotels opened early today as did many locations in Downtown Disney.) We again met some of our fellow runners in the lobby and walked over to the pre-race area together. Even though there were 18,000 registered this morning (as opposed to 10,000 for the 10K) the walkways still weren't congested, and even the porta-potty lines weren't very long.

Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort — A Relook

Posted on
The last time I reviewed the Caribbean Beach Resort was during an overnight stay in November 2010. I recently returned for a two-night stay to see what had changed since my last visit. After a look around I discovered that very little has been altered during the past three and a half years. So with just a few exceptions, the resort is pretty much the way you remember it. Here are the changes I discovered during my stay.

US Route 192 — Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway

Posted on
Jack discusses one of the major, non-Disney lodging areas in the Orlando area - or should I say, the Kissimmee/Saint Cloud area. US Route 192, also known as Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway, runs from the middle of the state beginning at US Route 27 and ends one block from the Atlantic Ocean at State Road A1A. About 20 miles of this 75 mile thoroughfare are populated with a dizzying array of hotels, motels, timeshares, restaurants, souvenir shops, and attractions.

2014 Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend – Part 2

This is it – the day of the Tinker Bell Half Marathon, and most importantly, our last morning of getting up insanely early for a while! Yay!!! We had moved to the Disney Vacation Club’s Villas at the Grand Californian on Saturday after the 10K, so we were even closer to the start line than … Continue reading "2014 Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend – Part 2"

Earl of Sandwich: A Simple Meal Fit For Royalty

Posted on
One of our favorite counter service restaurants at Disney World is actually found at Downtown Disney. The irony of this restaurant is that it is not actually Disney-owned, but part of a chain that has locations all across the United States. Nevertheless, when it comes to counter service dining, there are not too many locations at Disney World that can match Earl of Sandwich.

Re-Imagined Disney Magic Part 1 – Overview

Posted on
Lee and I have just come off a two-day cruise of the Re-Imagined Disney Magic. There have been a lot of changes, so there was a lot to try and cover in just two days! Disney Cruise Line considers the Magic their flagship, so rather than simply trying to re-make the Magic into the Dream class of ship, they chose to continue to innovate and bring something special to the Magic. While there are some new elements inspired by the Dream class, they developed new enhancements that are exclusive to the Magic, so the Magic retains its own identity.
