INTRODUCTION
Join J. Thaddeus Toad and his friends on a wild horseless carriage ride to no place in particular. Semper absurda!
ATTRACTION
Mr. Toad's Wild Ride is located in Fantasyland next to Peter Pan's Flight. The building's exterior is themed as an old English manor house - Toad Hall. Most of the queue is outside under a vine-covered arbor that provides some shade for most of the year, and blooms profusely in the spring.
Upon
entering the building there's a statue of Mr. Toad on the left
that provides a good photo opportunity.
The motor cars seat two people, and are named after Mr. Toad and his friends - Toady, Badger, Cyril, Moley, Ratty, Weasel, and Winkie. The steering wheel spins but does not control the movement at all.
The car makes lots of sharp turns as it proceeds on its wild tour of merry old England, passing the homes of Toad's friends and crashing through haystacks and other obstacles, all while avoiding unsuspecting livestock and other innocent bystanders. But all good things must come to an end and eventually the long arm of the law reaches out. Following a daring escape from the police there's an unfortunate encounter with a train, and everyone ends up in Hell, where the devil bears a striking resemblance to the judge. But all is not lost, and the car and its passengers emerge back into the sunlight and safety of the loading area.
NOTE: For more about this attraction, see Mr. Toad's Wild Ride Archive page in our Walt Disney World section!
TOURING TIPS
Mr. Toad's Wild Ride is quite popular. The line is shortest early in the day.
This is a "dark" ride, and some scenes are in the dark. There's also strobe lighting and loud noises -- not to mention the illusion that you're about to be hit by a train, and then sent to Hell afterwards. The ride is about two minutes long.
There is no height requirement.
Wheelchair and ECV users enter at the attraction's exit.
The "hell" scene is rather warm - though it feels pretty good on a rainy day or a cool evening!
Photo
opportunity: One of the motor cars is usually parked in front of Toad
Hall.
The closest restrooms are located next to the Village Haus Restaurant, along the exit to Frontierland.
KIDS AND CHARACTERS
Some kids may find the darkness and noises of this ride to be quite scary.
Unfortunately, none of the characters from Mr. Toad make appearances in any of the Disney parks.
DINING
Village Haus in Fantasyland serves burgers and pizza.

INTERESTING FACTS
Mr. Toad's Wild Ride is an original Disneyland ride and opened with the park in 1955.
The attraction is based on characters from the book "The Wind in the Willows", which was featured in the 1949 Disney film The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad.
The ride building actually hosts two different attractions - Mr. Toad on the bottom floor, and Alice in Wonderland on the second floor.
In honor of Disneyland's 50th anniversary a golden motor car has been placed in the ride. A second version of the car is located outside Toad Hall, and available for photographs.
