"Make a wish on a shooting star. Magical is the nightly fireworks show presented at Disneyland during the summer season. Spectacular fireworks are choreographed to selections of classic Disney music that celebrate "magic": the magic of childhood, wishing, imagination, a mother's love, and the kiss. During the show both Tinker Bell and Dumbo fly above Sleeping Beauty Castle. The fireworks can be viewed from Main Street, U.S.A., Small World Mall, and New Orleans Square, though there are projections on the castle that are only visible from Main Street. The flights of Tinker Bell and Dumbo are also better viewed from closer to the castle. Guests often secure prime viewing spots on Main Street over an hour in advance. While guests usually sit down to wait, all guests must stand up starting about 15 minutes before the show. The show is a little over 13 minutes long. For safety reasons, Toontown and Fantasyland close about an hour before the show starts, and re-open afterward. The show is divided into six different sections. In the opening The Magic of Childhood, Eden Espinosa sings "Second Star to the Right", and then the "Magical" theme accompanies Tinker Bell's flight over the castle. In The Magic of a Wish Gepetto wishes on a star and Blue Fairy pyrotechnics light up the sky. Musical selections include "When You Wish Upon a Star", "An Actor's Life For Me", and "I've Got No Strings." The Magic of Imagination follows, with the music of Mary Poppins - "Chim-chim-chirree", "Jolly Holiday", "Step in Time", "Let's Go Fly a Kite", and "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious." In The Magic of a Mother's Love, Eden Espinosa sings "Baby Mine" as Dumbo flies around the castle. Watch his ears move as he flies. The Magic of a Kiss features the songs "True Love's Kiss" (from Enchanted), "A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes", "So This is Love", "Beauty and the Beast", and "Once Upon a Dream". In the finale, Fauna and Merryweather argue over making it pink or blue. The sky fills with fireworks set to the "Magical" fanfare and Tinker Bell again flies around the castle. Eden Espinosa and the chorus sing "A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes" and the finale concludes with the "Magical" theme. Magical debuted on June 12, 2009. It runs during the summer season, generally ending its run after Labor Day. The score is by Greg Smith, who also wrote the score for Wishes, and features an 80-piece orchestra and a choir. Eden Espinosa, a former Disneyland cast member who portrayed Elphaba on Broadway, is the featured soloist. Dumbo is actually a large puppet, designed by master puppeteer Michael Curry, who also designed puppets for The Lion King on Broadway and Disney's Aladdin at Disney California Adventure. From inside the puppet the puppeteer's arms manipulate the head, ears, and trunk and the legs control the two front legs.
