MouseFest 2003:
8th Annual Holiday RADP Meet at WDW
December 2003

Around the "World" in 8 Days!

Welcome to the meet page for RADP-8! If you
are new to RADP, you may be asking yourself, "What is a RADP?" RADP stands
for rec.arts.disney.parks — a Disney parks enthusiast newsgroup where folks
all around the world share tips, stories and general information regarding
the Disney park experience. We get together once a year to put a face to
that poster/friend we met on newsgroup.

The first RADP meet occured in Dec 1996 with about 20 folks (mostly from
the Orlando area) and now this has grown to include more than 300 of our
newsgroup friends and family from all over the world! Folks come as far
away as the United Kingdom, Norway, Japan, Canada, and as close as San Francisco,
New Orleans, Chicago, Kansas City, New Hampshire and Tampa. There is no
membership requirement. Unless noted, all events are free and open to Disney
fans of all ages!

In 2003, for the first time, the RADP Meet will be part of a larger gathering
of many Internet communities. "MouseFest 2003" promises to be the biggest
party yet! More details about MouseFest 2003.

Host a Meet!
If you would like to host a RADP meet, we would love to add you to the schedule.
No experience is necessary. Most meets will practically run themselves.
You can opt to host any meet you see on the schedule that doesn't already
have a host or you can come up with your very own idea for a meet.

Schedule of Meet Events

Please
Note:
All meet times are subject to change for many reasons including
Disney's changing of park hours and show times. During the early meet
planning stages, meet listings can be very fluid. Times, dates and even
locations can change often. Keep checking back for the latest information!

"Official Days" are only to make it easier for folks who are using day
passes and not meant to be in any way associated with Disney or its early
entry policies.

This listing includes all
RADP meets as well as other meets being sponsored by our friends at PassPorter,
Disney Dollarless and Our Laughing Place. All meets listed are open to
everyone. Some meets do have limits on how many can participate and some
require advance reservations and/or payment. These are specified in the
meet description of the individual event.

Complimentary pocket guides
with listings of all the meets will be available while supplies last at
many of the Mousefest 2003 meets. These handy guides are once again being
made available through the courtesy of our friends at PassPorter.
They also have a downloadable PDF file with all meet listings available
for free on their web site. See http://www.passporter.com/gathering.htm.
Thank you Jennifer and Dave!

Ultimate Magic Kingdom Touring Plan
Record Breaking Attempt

7:00 am @ MK turnstiles (or one hour before Extra Magic Hour if December
hours differ)

UPDATE: Only one spot still remains available!
The record for completing the Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World's
Ultimate Magic Kingdom Touring Plan is 41 attractions in 10 hours, 40
minutes by Richard Vosburgh of Hutto, Texas on June 10, 2003.

I am looking for a maximum of five hardy souls to spend the day
racing around the Magic Kingdom to experience EVERY open attraction. We
will not be stopping for much of anything, except required rest breaks
for parades and shows indicated on the touring plan. You must be a Disney
resort guest as I will be utilizing Extra Magic Hour.

Please note that this touring plan is not intended for families, first-time
visitors to the Magic Kingdom, or for anyone simply wanting a nice day
in the Magic Kingdom. Attempting this touring plan is to the Magic Kingdom
what the Boston Marathon is to Boston.

The folks at Unofficial Guide will be with us during the day and there
will be possible press coverage and some other surprises. Anyone else
that would like to tag along through various parts of the day are welcome,
but please note that those that have chosen to participate will not wait
on anyone!!.

For more details or to sign up, please contact Carol

RADP Epcot Day

3rd Annual Future World Morning Marathon:
Journey to the Center of Spaceship Earth

9:00am @ Epcot Future World
This year we'll be trading Spaces. Your Marathon Coordinators are Catherine
and
Lori

NON-RIDERS: If you are not interested in participating in the
thrill ride portion of our program (legs 1 and 2) but would like to follow
the marathon from the beginning, join the Future World Marathon Non-rider
Support Group. Non-riders will meet at the Spaceship Earth plaza along
with the riders.

Leg 1: Mission: Space Jaunt (hosted by our Space Cadets: Amanda
& Dean)

Meet at the plaza in front of Mission: Space (between the two planets)
at park opening. We will ride in the standby line, and plan to be getting
in line no later than 15 minutes after park opening. Riders will line
up and count off so that we may give an accurate count at the ride entrance.
Non-riders may opt out from the beginning OR join the group in line
and opt out before boarding.

Leg 2: Test Track Drive-Thru (hosts: Catherine & Lori)
Once everyone gets through Mission: Space, the marathon will move over
to Test Track, where we will be joining the single riders line. If the
single riders line is inoperable, we will either ride standby if time
allows or pick up fastpasses for later use.

Leg 3: Spaceship Earth Roulette (hosts: Catherine & Lori)
To help accommodate those who do not wish to ride Mission:Space or Test
Track, we will meet at the Epcot Tip Board (behind Spaceship Earth)
prior to this leg. We plan to be getting in line for the ride at approximately
10:45 AM, so be at the tip board before 10:30 to make your scene choices
(we may be there earlier if the first two legs take less time than anticipated,
but we will not leave to board the ride until 10:45). Spaceship Earth
has been divided into 27 separate scenes. Choose the scene your hosts
will be seated beside when the ride stops. The person choosing the correct
scene will receive a Disney-related prize. Due to heightened interest
in this meet, we will bring along an extra guess sheet to allow a total
of 54 guesses, so there will possibly be two guesses for the winning
scene and two prizes awarded. We will not take down any scene choices
until we arrive at the tip board.

Leg 4: Ice Station Cool-Down (host & participant: Lori)
Walk to Ice Station Cool after awarding of Spaceship Earth prizes. If
you wish, take the Beverly Chugging Challenge, a test of endurance and
carbonation. Last person standing wins a prize.

THE MARATHON IS SCHEDULED TO END BEFORE NOON.
