IMPORTANT: Hidden Springs Pool, the leisure pool at the Villas at Disney's Wildnerness Lodge, as well as the beach, marina and playground are closed for enhancement until sometime mid 2017. During this time, the Silver Creek Springs Pool is open for your use. Boat transport to the Magic Kingdom is also still available.
Due to construction work in various areas, certain pathways, including the nature trail, are unavailable. Noise may be overheard while this work is being completed. Work begins at 9:00am.
A bit confusing, we admit. Disney Vacation Club took over one whole side of the Wilderness Lodge itself and remodeled the rooms into Studios, 1-Bedroom, 2-Bedroom and 3-Bedroom Grand Villas.
In addition, there are 26 new waterfront Cabins which reside, in part, in front of the original Villas at Wilderness Lodge, now called Boulder Ridge Villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge.
Can I rent rooms at the various Disney Vacation Club villas at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge or do I have to be a member of Disney's Vacation Club (DVC)?
As with all the Disney Vacation Club resorts on property, anyone can rent rooms or suites, subject to availability. You do NOT have to be a member of the DVC.
What are the different room options?
There are 184 Villas that include Studios, 1, 2, and 3 Bedroom Villas.
The Studio Villas - Each one sleeps up to 4 Guests, with a queen-size bed and a queen-size sleeper sofa. This bright and welcoming room includes a convenient kitchenette, bathroom with either a full-size tub/shower combo, or a walk-in rain shower. There is also a flat-panel wall-mounted TV in the bedroom/living area, storage space for your family's belongings, plus a private patio or balcony.
The One-Bedroom Villas - sleeps up to 4 Guests, with a king-size bed and a queen-size sleeper sofa. These Villas also feature a fully equipped kitchen with stainless steel appliances, stacked washer and dryer and a sleek bubble-jet tub.
The Two-Bedroom Villas (both dedicated and studio lock-off) sleeps up to 8, with a king-size bed, 2 queen-size beds and a queen-size sleeper sofa. These Villas also feature a fully equipped kitchen with stainless steel appliances, stacked washer and dryer and a sleek bubble-jet tub.
The Three Bedroom Grand Villas - are ideal for extended-family getaways and can accommodate up to 12 Guests with a king-size bed, 4 queen-size beds and one queen-size sleeper sofa. Additional highlights include a washer and dryer and a master bathroom fitted with a bubble-jet tub and an in-mirror TV.
And the Waterfront Cabins?
There are 26 brand new cabins that sleep up to eight and featuring two bedrooms, two baths and large dining and living room spaces, the cabins’ floor-to-ceiling windows, exposed wooden beams and interior-exterior stone-hearth fireplace bring the beauty of the outdoors in, and offer plenty of room for families.
2-Bedroom/2-bathroom waterfront Cascade Cabins. These private, luxurious quarters can sleep up to 8 Guests and are exclusive to Copper Creek Villas & Cabins. In addition to a washer and dryer and a fully equipped, open-style kitchen, each Cabin features a double-sided stone-hearth fireplace and screened-in wraparound porch with a built-in hot tub—an ideal spot for peaceful chats over steaming mugs of morning coffee.
Are there smoking and nonsmoking rooms?
As of June 1, 2007, all Disney resorts and guest rooms are now smoke free. There are designated outdoor smoking areas. Check the resort map or with a Cast Member for locations.
Where do I check in?
Online Check-in is available 10 days prior to your stay through MyDisneyExperience online. Look for the special Online Check-in line at the resort's front desk.
Check-in for the villas is the main Wilderness Lodge front desk. Guest services can also be found in the Wilderness Lodge lobby.
I hear that there are no more room key cards at Disney resort hotels. How do I get into my room?
Walt Disney World has converted their room keys and admission tickets from plastic cards to MagicBands, flexible plastic wristbands, resembling a watch or bracelet, that use Radio Frequency (RF) technology. Your MagicBand is linked to your My Disney Experience (MDE) account (http://allears.net/tp/my-magic-plus.htm) and acts as your Disney resort room key. Simply touch the Mickey symbol on your MagicBand to the RFID reader near your room door to gain entry. Read about using MagicBands for park admission, FastPass+ and more here: http://allears.net/tp/magic-bands.htm
What time is Check-In/Check-Out?
Resort Airline Check-In Service at your Disney resort is only available if you are flying domestically (includes Puerto Rico) on specific airlines It is a complimentary (free) service and allows you to check your luggage.
Check-In for the Villas is 4:00 pm and Check-Out is 11:00 am. You will be allowed to check in earlier if your room is ready when you arrive, but based on my experience with other Disney Vacation Club resorts, don't count on it!
How do I Get to.......
All Disney’s Wilderness Lodge transportation is via the main Wilderness Lodge system.
While it seems as though you should be able to walk to the other Magic Kingdom resort hotels and perhaps even the Magic Kingdom itself, you can't.
Transportation is available through either the Wilderness Lodge Boat Dock or the Bus Depot. They are located on opposite ends of the resort.
Boat Dock -- Walking in the front door of the Lodge, the boat dock will be through the back door, down the left side past the pool, down the walkway to the dock.
Bus Depot -- Make a right in the lobby just after you pass the front desk; then go past the gift shop (on your right) and past the Cub's Den (on your left) and outside to the bus depot. There are 3 "stops" at the Bus Depot.
Magic Kingdom -- There are two options. 1) Take the Red Flag Boat available at the Dock. 2) You can also take a bus directly to the Magic Kingdom.
Trail Rides at Fort Wilderness - Board the Bus from the Lodge Bus Depot; it will stop at Pioneer Hall and the Trailer Loop.
Bus Stop #2 provides transportation to Epcot, Animal Kingdom, and Blizzard Beach - This bus will also take you to the mini-golf course "Winter Summerland", which is directly adjacent to Blizzard Beach.
Bus Stop #3 will take you to the Disney's Hollywood Studios, and, after 4 p.m. to the Disney Springs area and Typhoon Lagoon. If you want to visit Typhoon Lagoon or Disney Springs earlier than 4 p.m. -- Take the Crockett bus to the TTC; then transfer.
During certain seasons, a boat will run between the WL and the Contemporary. This boat enables you to access the Contemporary Hotel as well as monorail access. Whenever in doubt, be sure to ask your bus/boat driver where they are going and the best way to get to where you want to go.
How do I drive to the Magic Kingdom Ticket and Transportation Center parking lot from the Villas?
While there usually isn't a need to drive from the Villas to the MK parking lot, sometimes you may need to do this, and it isn't obvious where to go.
Head out of the Lodge on Timberline Drive, and keep going straight, now on Seven Seas Drive. You'll go past the Polynesian, and then come to Floridian Way, where a right turn would take you to the Grand Floridian. Turn *left* here, even though it looks like you're exiting the area. Stay in the left lane. Just past the Exxon station, and just before you pass the toll plaza, you'll see a small but clearly-marked sign which says "Magic Kingdom parking". Go left here and make a U-turn, which will take you back into the parking area.
This can be a bit confusing if you're not ready for it, as it looks like you're on the way out of the lot instead of into it, but it seems to be the quickest (legal) way to make this drive.
Is there a gift shop?
The Wilderness Lodge Mercantile shop is located in the main Wilderness Lodge. It has a variety of northwestern and Wilderness Lodge specific "themed" merchandise, Disney plush and sundries. Food items are also available geared towards those staying in the Villas. There are 2 fantastic life size wood carvings of bear that you have to see. Just outside the entrance to the shop, you will find a Disney Character Totem pole which serves as a great photo opportunity!
Where can I get morning coffee?
The villas come equipped with coffee makers, so you can brew your own. If you prefer, walk over to Roaring Fork Snacks on the first floor of the Lodge near the pool entrance.
What are Rapid Fill Mugs?
The Rapid Fill beverage program allows Disney Resort guests to buy (or receive as part of the Disney Dining Plan) a resort mug that can be refilled for a certain period of time as designated at time of purchase. These mugs are enhanced by an RFID bar code that enables the mug to deactivate when the designated time is complete. For complete details visit: http://allears.net/din/mugs.htm
What are the restaurants like?
Geyser Point Bar & Grill is located in the heart of the feature pool area of Disney's Wilderness Lodge, where Disney Vacation Club Members and guests can grab a bite to eat as they lounge by the resort's main pool. There is ample outdoor seating and the architecture looks right at home with that of the existing Lodge, as well as Boulder Ridge Villas.
Artist Point - a full-service restaurant. It serves dinner, featuring cuisine from the Northwestern United States. Sitting by a window provides a view of the woods or the pool depending on your location.
Whispering Canyon Cafe located off the main lobby, the restaurant actually opens to the lobby. This is a western themed family style restaurant with special activities for those celebrating a special day...including "horse races". Food is served family style (you share off the same serving plate) in skillets placed on lazy susans; breakfast, lunch and dinner are served. Be sure to read the bottom of our Dinner Menu for ways to make your Whispering Canyon experience a memorable one!
Territory Lounge is near Artist Point and is a relaxing lounge that serves a nice micro-brew, as well as espresso and cappuccino. Appetizers and light snacks are available from 5-10 p.m. Seasonally open during the day.
Roaring Fork CURRENTLY CLOSED FOR RENOVATION is located on the ground floor near the pool entrance of the main Lodge. It is a self-serve snack shop with light meals and is open from approximately 7 a.m. to midnight, daily and has Rapid Fill Mugs. There is a small seating area where you can dine or wait for your grilled items to be ready.
Trout Pass - CURRENTLY CLOSED FOR RENOVATION The poolside refreshment center opens at noon with seasonal hours for closing.
Room Service - Miss Jenny's In-room dining is available for breakfast (7-11 a.m.) and dinner (4 p.m.-midnight)
What is the pool like?
The pool that was at the Boulder Ridge Villas at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, Hidden Springs, is being totally renovated and will return sometime in 2017. Head to the main Lodge and use the themed Silver Creek Springs Pool as well as the Kids Splash Zone area.
What type of child care options are available?
The Cub's Den child care location is under major rehab and will reopen sometime in 2017.
What special tours and programs are offered at the WLodge?
"Wonders of the Lodge" tour is offered at 9 am on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. This tour is about the architecture and how the Lodge was built, takes you outside, talks about landscaping, and then goes back inside and talks about the artwork like the metal work and the Totem Poles and the paintings.
Are Any Special Cruises Available from the Wilderness Lodge Boat Dock?
Yes, several specialty cruises are available from the boat dock. Visit our Specialty Cruises page for details.
