while back I remember seeing something about an outside cabin on the
ships that is in a bad place and has a porthole window, and therefore
can be had for the inside cabin price. Do you remember which cabins
these are? Any information would be helpful! Thank You!
Hi
Season!
There
are actually six of these Category 8 Outside Deluxe cabins with an
obstructed view that are sold as Category 10 Inside Deluxe cabins.
They're all on Deck 5 (my personal favorite, especially if you have
kids!) The cabin numbers are 5520, 5522, 5524, 5020, 5022, and 5024.
In my opinion, 5020 and 5520 have the least obscured views.
There are also four Category 6 verandah cabins being sold as Category
7 because their verandahs are partially obscured. Two are on Deck
6 and two are on Deck 7. These are 6634 and 6134, and 7620 and 7120.
By
the way, the higher the category number, the less expensive the cabin.
In other words, a Category 9 cabin would be less expensive than a
Category 4 would be.
Bon Voyage!

We
are planning a trip to Walt Disney World in October. On our previous
trips to WDW, we purchased refillable mugs (one from All Star Music
and one from the Magic Kingdom park). If we stay at a hotel other
than All Star Music, will we be able to use these mugs, or would we
have to purchase new mugs from the hotel we are staying at? Thanks!
Hi
Jodie!
This
question comes up all the time, but it's worth repeating the answer
every few months as the policy has changed over the years.
The current official policy is that refillable mugs can only be used
at the resort where they were purchased for the duration of the stay
in which they were purchased. The new mugs have this policy printed
on them, and the policy is also clearly posted in many of the resorts'
food courts. Mugs purchased on previous stays can no longer be re-used
on a later trip.
Mugs from one resort cannot be used at another resort's food court.
The one exception is that an All Star mug can be used at any of the
three All Star Resorts' food courts.
Mugs purchased at the theme parks have never been refillable at any
venue inside or outside of the parks.
You can read more about the resorts' mugs on All
Ears Net's Refillable Mug page.

I
have read many helpful hints from you and other Disney World lovers.
Many have suggested not scrambling toward the exits at closing time.
Some suggest grabbing a last minute ride or stroll Main Street and
shop. My concern is that the buses will stop running within a half
hour of closing and abandon the stragglers. How long will buses pick
up passengers after the park closes? Thank you so much!
Hi
Tami!
If
you are staying at a Disney resort, Disney
transportation continues running for at least an hour past
park closing. The parks usually take that long or longer to clear
of guests. Even on the off chance that you miss the last bus, Disney
will never leave you stranded. Find the nearest Cast Member and explain
the situation. They will make sure you find transport back to your
resort.
If you're staying offsite, you'll be bound to the schedule of your
hotel's shuttle, which probably won't run much past park closing on
any given night. Be sure to inquire when you board the shuttle to
the parks.
Have a magical time at the World!

We
are staying at the Pop Century Resort
soon. We were wondering if we bought souvenirs at a store within the
parks, if they would send them to our hotel so we wouldn't have to
walk around with them all day. We heard this through the grapevine
and were just wondering if this is really possible.
Hi
Jennifer!
What?
You don't want to look like a pack mule on vacation? In that case,
you can have all of your park purchases sent back to your Disney
resort. The shop's Cast Member will have you fill out a short
form with your resort information, and will pack it up and have it
sent. You'll be given a special receipt that you must show to claim
your package. It usually takes about 24 hours for your purchases to
arrive at your resort. You will receive a phone message when your
package is ready for pickup at the resort's gift shop. Present your
receipt and your WDW Resort ID or driver's license, and they'll bring
you your treasures. Easy peasy!
It is important to remember that you cannot have purchases sent back
to your resort if you are checking out the following day. If you still
don't want to carry your purchases around with you all day, you can
have them sent to the front of the park and pick them up on the way
out.
Have a fabulous time at the Pop Century
and at the World!

My
family is planning a trip to Disney World in late summer. There are
five of us. I know there are Value Resorts, but are there any rooms
in them that will accommodate five people, or do we have to move up
to a moderately priced resort? Seems rather unfair for a larger family
to not be able to benefit from the value resorts! How can we enjoy
the magic, but still not break the bank? Thanks!
Hi
Jill!
All
rooms in the Value resorts
are pretty much the same, and none of them will accommodate five people
unless one of those people is under three years old and sleeps in
a portable crib.
This still leaves you a few options:
You can either reserve two connecting rooms at the Value resorts,
(the biggest benefit of this is having two bathrooms!) or try for
a trundle bed room at Port Orleans-Riverside's
Alligator Bayou, which is the only Moderate
resort that will sleep five people. Many of the Deluxe
resorts' rooms will sleep five, but these rooms are usually
more expensive than renting two Value rooms. Occasionally, you can
find a great deal on the Fort Wilderness
Homes (large cabin-like trailers) which sleep six and feature
a full kitchen. When you call the reservations center (407-WDISNEY)
be sure to ask about any special discounts and have them price out
each of these options for you to compare.
Have a great vacation!

Can
you tell me what time of year the Walt Disney World parks have the
lowest attendance?
Hi
Annie!
I
surely can! Historically, the last three weeks of January, with the
exception of Martin Luther King Weekend and Marathon Weekend, are
by far the quietest time of year. The next lowest attendance is during
the month of September, followed by most of November (minus Thanksgiving
Week), and early December.
Be warned that popular special events like Epcot's
Food and Wine Festival and Mickey's
Very Merry Christmas Party have recently begun to contribute
to a significant increase in guests in November and early December.
Although it is still nothing like the peak seasons of Christmas week,
Spring Break and summertime, it's not as slow as it was in years past.
