Review: “Inside Out”

Posted on
"Inside Out," The latest offspring from the mind of Pete Docter, looks inside the head of an eleven-year-old girl and observes the nature of the emotions that drive her, as well as their changing relationships to her and to each other. The film's setting, a young girl named Riley, is an essentially happy-go-lucky child, living a relatively bucolic life in Minnesota, when her world is abruptly upended by a move to San Francisco. Working frantically to try to keep her charge happy, Joy, along with the core memories that support different personality facets, manages to get flung far away from headquarters into the vast reaches of Riley's mind. Lost along with her is Sadness, a generally disregarded emotion, who has begun to be subject to strange and unnerving impulses that threaten to undo all of Joy's efforts.

Growing up can be a bumpy road, and it's no exception for Riley, who is uprooted from her Midwest life when her father starts a new job in San Francisco. Like all of us, Riley is guided by her emotions - Joy (Amy Poehler), Fear (Bill Hader), Anger (Lewis Black), Disgust (Mindy Kaling) and Sadness (Phyllis Smith).

Walt Disney Family Museum

San Francisco is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. There are few other metropolises that can top the romance, excitement, and loveliness found in the City by the Bay. San Francisco offers first class dining, shopping, and entertainment. Man-made tourist attractions abound with the likes of Fisherman's Wharf, the cable cars, Alcatraz, and China Town just to name a few. And if you feel like experiencing more natural surroundings, the giant redwoods of Muir Woods and the vineyards of Wine Country are just an hour's drive away across the Golden Gate Bridge. Yes, San Francisco can easily fill a week of your time. But if all this wasn't already enough, a new shining star in the city's roster of tourist attractions opened on October 1, 2009, The Walt Disney Family Museum.

Holiday Hidden Images at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

You probably know about the seasonal Hidden Mickeys scattered throughout the Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights along the Streets of America each Holiday season. Disney usually adds a few new Hidden Mickeys every year, and, thankfully, many of our favorite ones return. On San Francisco Street, the Dalmatian with the classic Mickey spot on its right hip is back this year.
