Changes are in the air for Port Orleans French Quarter‘s Scat Cat’s Club. Scat Cats is located off the lobby area of the resort’s main building.

It was just announced that Scat Cat’s Club will expand into a bigger space “soon”.

Disney promises Scat Cat’s will continue to offer New Orleans-inspired drinks and music. Live jazz music will be featured five nights a week.

A new location, Scat Cat’s Club — Café will open with the expansion. This new location will serve the resort’s popular beignets throughout the day. Beignets are made in-house daily, and right now seasonally-inspired pumpkin spice beignets and a pumpkin spice beignet sundae is on the menu!

  1. Disney seems to think that guests at French Quarter do not mind traveling to Riverside for a sit down meal, but they are very wrong. After a long day in a park, I don’t want to have to travel again to get a late dinner. We seldom rent a car, so it would be nice not to have to travel for dinner or endure another poor quality meal at the food court in French Quarter. They could easily have converted Scat Cat’s to a sit down restaurant with real food, instead of beignets, which are available at the food court. They could have kept the entertainment at Scat Cat’s. But no, Disney finds endless ways to make their services cheaper, while raising prices to guests.

  2. We always looked forward to seeing Jason and Billy and Greg. We book French Quarter most trips, and they were a big reason. They made the end of busy parks days relaxing. We just booked our next visit and we will stay at Coronodo for the first time. We are very disappointed.

    1. Holly, they’re still playing jazz in the new location, though I can’t say for sure it’s the same performers.

  3. Disney has again alienated their fan base by getting rid of Jason and Billy at Scat Cats. I hate Jazz and can’t see myself frequenting there again. Sad because we used to look forward to going there at least once a month.

  4. Disney has done it again! They got rid of the most excellent musical talent. There is a following of Jason & Billy just as there was a following of Off Kilter. People arrive early for good seats and often arrange their vacation time around the guys’ schedule.

They have a very interactive system of entertaining and involving the audience ad-lib.

  5. I love watching Jason and Billy. Their connection to the audience, and them playing as many requests as they could is unbeatable. However I do see how “Theme-wise” a Jazz band would be a better fit at the Scat Cats location. BUT why can’t you find a place where Jason and Billy’s music (they play everything, but lean towards country and soft rock)) would go well with the theming? Losing them completely, when they have such a big following and are so talented, is really a shame. My suggestion would be for them to play at Wilderness Lodge. Please don’t ditch them completely, so many guests will be heartbroken

  6. i am not a fan of yeehaw bob..we travel as adults with adult kids and visit often 2 times a year..one less reason to keep going, jason and billy were a wonderful adult evening ..warm friendly and not interested in dixieland or jazz..so good luck with all the dumbed down changes.

  7. I have to echo the other comments posted here. Jason and Billy are talented musicians who have a great rapport with each other and the audience. Seeing them at Scat Cat’s was a wonderful way to end the day at Disney World. Ironically, they both previously performed with Off Kilter, the extremely popular band that was unceremoniously let go from Disney, along with a number of other live acts, five years ago. Seems like history is repeating itself. Disney says that the new Scat Cat’s will feature a live jazz band—hopefully it won’t also feature yet another movie tie-in (The Princess and The Frog maybe??).

  8. We have stayed at the French Quarter our last 20 visits.
One of the main reason was seeing Jason and Billy in the lounge. It was something we looked forward to after a day in the parks. Ever since Mr. Berko took over things have changed for the worse. The food court offerings have gone downhill and now the change in entertainment will have us thinking of finding a new resort after our planned stay in November.
Mr. Berko leaves a nice note in your room with his email address telling you to contact him if you have any issues. Unfortunately if you do email him all you get is a form letter in return.

  9. Losing Jason and Billy is just the longest in a line of cuts to the live entertainment at the parks and resorts. I don’t go to Disney to necessarily ride the biggest, newest roller coaster or ride system. I have a Six Flags within a one hour ride of my house for that, if that is all I am looking for. They are wonderful and all, but in addition to a highly themed environment that includes sights, and sounds that are immersive to the storyline of the place we are in. The live entertainment at Disney made my trips special and in many cases as the years went by became more of the focus of my trips. One year I specifically came down to celebrate New Year’s at Hollywood Studios, so I could catch the live band, Mulch, Sweat & Shears performances on that night to ring in the New Year. That was probably one of the most happy and memorable trips I have had before or since. Lately the trips have been involving the ending of the great entertainment such as Off Kilter, Mulch, Sweat & Shears and countless others, which is no where near as happy. A switch of a fireworks show is one thing, but the interaction of these entertainment cast members is what makes Disney so unique. I understand that the new Scat Cats will have a new band, but it certainly will not have the appeal of the fun singalong that it is now, which invites the audience to join in the good times and feel the warmth of the New Orleans area while visiting Florida. In some cases, the entertainment may not be replaced at all or replaced with something that is inferior and not worthy of performing at the world’s #1 entertainment destination. I hope to see the replacement of many of the acts and entertainments that were so much fun in the past. I miss the night time parades at the Magic Kingdom which were just totally eliminated. Off Kilter was a tremendous loss followed the year after by Mulch, Sweat and Shears. None of the acts except for one, Alberta Bound, was even close in terms of the interaction and enjoyment for me. Come on Disney, I have been with you for many years and I KNOW that you can do better. You have before and I hope to see you do so again really soon!!

  10. It would be wonderful if a real restaurant could be brought back to the the French Quarter. We stayed here when Bonfamillies was still open, and enjoyed wonderful meals. The food court, pizza and schlepping over to Boatwright’s is just not the same…. (and we were NOT impressed with the food at Bortwright’s.) We love the ambiance of the French Quarter, but is has some strikes against it with being limited by crowded bus transportation only

  11. This change is not adding to our experience. We love Jason & Billy & Greg at Scat Cat’s Club and to lose them means that we will not be coming back. They are the best live entertainment on Disney property and we are heartbroken at this change. They are the only thing that has kept us coming back to WDW these last few years.
