Magic Kingdom’s Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe Installs New Station for Refilling Water Bottles

Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe in Magic Kingdom has installed a new refillable water bottle station along with new water fountains.

New Water Fountain with Station for Refilling Water Bottle at Cosmic Ray’s

This station will make it easier to refill your personal bottles when visiting the parks. Just think of how this will reduce the number of plastic water bottles thrown away after one use!

Water Bottle Refill Station

This is another in Disney’s recent efforts toward becoming more eco-friendly. The parks have switched to paper straws and now offer reusable merchandise bags, as part of the Walt Disney Company’s commitment to reduce plastic waste.  Last year, the company announced that its efforts would result in a reduction of more than 175 million straws and 13 million stirrers annually. In addition, over the next few years Disney hotels and cruise ships will switch over to refillable in-room amenities, which will reduce plastics in guest rooms by 80 percent.

You can see just how much of a positive impact this one water station is making, as it displays the number of bottles that it has been used to refill. And not only are you helping to save the environment by using less plastic, you’re even saving a few dollars!

  1. Yeah…here’s the problem with the filling stations for me: I was standing right next to one of these filling stations one day when this woman approaches it to fill her bottle. Instead of placing the bottle on the shelf and then pushing the button (like you’re supposed to) she proceeds to shove the mouth of the bottle up and over the filling tube. I clearly saw the mouth of the bottle touch (contaminate) right where the water comes out of.
    I cannot have that….

  2. This is only good if they’ve made the water taste good. The water fountain water at the parks was disgusting the last time I visited [2015]. The water in the rooms is fine. So it is possible.

  3. It’s about time!!! Disney is WAAAAAY behond just about every resort on the planet as far as free, easy access to clean water in a hot climate! This needs to be done all over property! Every other place I’ve been to (a lot) has had FREE water for guests. Way overdue.

  4. Can’t believe that anyone who cares about their health would use this. There is NO way to keep these clean and sanitary. Going to Disney? Don’t neglect to get your tetanus shot what ever else will protect you. No wait, just stay away from water
    fountains!

    1. Water fountains have been around for ages. I managed to survive going through schools drinking out of water fountains. I still drink out of water fountains and haven’t died yet.

    2. Dude, WDW is one giant petri dish of bacteria and virus. As is any public place. Actually exposing young kids to these strengthens their immune system. I always had my kids lick the monorail hand rails and then the bottoms of their shoes after we got back from the parks. They said it taste like chicken. They are as healthy as an ox today.

    3. Sounds like you shouldn’t ever leave your house if you’re that paranoid. These refillable water bottle stations are in every gym I have ever belonged to and have been for the past decade. It’s all filtered water. Nobody’s hands or lips come anywhere near where the water comes out. There is less danger refilling from one of these than there is getting a beverage from a drive-thru window.

  5. Do you know if it is filtered water? I can’t drink the tap water in Florida, it doesn’t taste good and it smells like sulfur to me. If it’s filtered water 💧 it’s a wonderful idea!

  6. Great, but only if it’s filtered and better tasting. WDW has the worst tasting water and I’ve wondered if by design since residences nearby have good water.

    1. ALL ground water in Florida has Sulphur and heavy metals. It’s just the natural state of the water. The reason residences have better-tasting water is because they install expensive whole-house filtration systems. These bottle refilling stations also use filters so any water coming through them should taste clean, if a bit chlorine-ish.
