The system has been glitchy this morning — we expect because everyone is trying to order their new MagicBands at the same time! But we were able to see the all the new MagicBand styles available.

As you can see, the upgraded options are available for pre-order for just $10.00, compared to the retail price of $24.99.  MagicBands are available in a number of different themes, like “Princesses,” “Villains,” and “Mickey and Friends.”

Once you choose the MagicBand for each member of your traveling party, you’ll have the chance to personalize them with names that will be printed on the inside of the band.

You’ll need to pre-order these special bands at least 11 days prior to your trip’s beginning so that they can be shipped to you in time.

So what do you think about all these new choices? Will you be upgrading to a custom MagicBand, or sticking with the complimentary solid colors? Drop us a note in the comments below!

  1. I’m still not able to access the new custom bands through My Disney Experience. Are other people having the same problem or could it be a possible problem with my account?

    1. Hi Caron,

I tried just the other day, and was only able to get the basic “free” colors — it seems that they still haven’t restocked all the special themed bands yet.

  2. What a fiasco – tried the first day and couldn’t complete the transaction. All bands showed up on MDE in stock at 6 am this morning and after being booted off the site several times, could not complete selections and bands disappeared when trying to check out. Now all the upgraded bands are gone again. Sticking with my free ones at this point – not worth the hours of time and aggravation

First world problems I know but hard to fathom how this company was so unprepared for this

  3. Transaction appeared completed but apparently didn’t go though in the system. Now hardly any of them are still available already. Disney says “sold out”, yet the same allegedly “sold out” bands can still be purchased at full price at the Disney Store. So not really “sold out”. Seems Disney IT has problems and the site wasn’t prepared for the demand. Hope fixed soon.

  4. I had the same experience as Paul – noted the bands I would like but before I had a chance to check with my family most were no longer available (including both the Star Wars bands). I’ve still got a few months before my trip, so will keep coming back to see if the list is updated – and this time move a bit quicker!

    1. The same thing happens to me. It looks like a lot of them are no longer available. Hoping they fix this problem soon.

  5. I went on to the site this afternoon to make my selections of upgraded Magic Bands, and about 60% of the new Bands were no longer available. I am hoping that there will be another patch available for upgrade soon. I would love to get a more personalized Magic Band, but I have no issues using a Generic one or just upgrading when I get there Day One.

  6. I am sure Disney is not losing money on these $10 bands. So it’s clear to me that the bands in the stores are marked up dramatically. Not that this is a surprise, only proof that Disney charges outrageous prices for merchandise.

  7. I wonder why it took them so long to add this little extra? I guess the specialty magic bands haven’t been a top seller since you get one for free. I know I always look at them but I never splurge because I already have one but a $10 upgrade would probably make me go ahead and pick one out that I like.

Anyone know how long a magic band’s battery lasts?

    1. Disney says its around two years.
You could replace the central “puck” if you wanted to keep using the actual band?

  8. At the discounted price of $10 I may order these. My room keys used to serve as souvenirs that marked the dates of my trips but Disney doesn’t issue them anymore. Personalizing my bands with the colors & names is how mark my trips now.

  9. Why not. What’s another $25 or two added to my $6,000 week at Disney. And after I get back it will make such a stylish fashion statement to wear out on the town.

I wonder if I can get a matching Goofy med alert bracelet?
