Epcot’s Tram Pick-Up/Drop-Off Locations Moved During Entrance Transformation

The entrance to Epcot will be undergoing a transformation, and the work has started on that project.

In this artist rendering, a new entrance plaza in development at Epcot will greet guests with new pathways, sweeping green spaces and a reimagined fountain. This design will pay homage to the original park entrance with fresh takes on classic elements. (Disney)

As the work starts, the parking lot trams have temporarily moved their pick-up and drop-off locations.

Just as we reported is happening in the Magic Kingdom, your walk to the park entrance will be a little longer than before. Now you will get off the tram and walk along the scrim and approach the park from the sides — not in front of Spaceship Earth as usual.

There are plenty of signs and placards around to help you navigate to the paths and get to the correct parking lots and trams.

  1. Prior to the tram overhaul’s finishing the West lot will become the World Showcase parking lot and the East lot will become the Future World parking lot and the separate tram load/unload areas will be themed for the International gateway for the West lot and the Project tomorrow area for the East lot after the rerouting has been finished but probably not after the Epcot Entrance is over but maybe after the demolition of the Leave a Legacy monoliths from the East side. This project will be similar to the Heroes and Villains lots at Magic Kingdom. That means the Journey, Amaze, Discover, and Create lots may end becoming United States, Canada, China, Morocco, Mexico, Germany, France, and United Kingdom lots while the Imagine, Explore and Wonder lots may become the Imagination, Space, Land, Mobility, Communication, Flight, Energy, and Seas lots. Row numbers may change and this may require some parking expansion as well. The United States lot maybe the only parking lot at Epcot to serve VIP and Diamond parking in addition to handicap parking as well as being the only guest lot not being accessible to the trams.

  2. I am glad that I am not traveling to the Disney world at this time. Too many projects going on at the same time and it does not appear that they are making any attempt to hide them from view. This goes for both epcot and the magic kingdom

  3. About time they realized that the original entrance was perfect. How much money did they waste before figuring that out? Eventually, they will also learn that most of the original EPCOT rides they trashed were also better than the crap they are putting in now. I figure we will see the original World of Motion back by about 2037.
