The Magic Kingdom is getting ready to welcome a new TRON attraction to the park for Disney World‘s 50th anniversary. Disney recently shared photos and news that the construction of this attraction reached a special milestone.
Recently, cast members and the project teams working on the new attraction were able to sign their names on one of the first steel support columns for the new attraction.
TRON is under construction in Tomorrowland and is based on the popular TRON Lightcycle Power Run at Shanghai Disneyland. This coaster-style attraction will have riders boarding a train of two-wheeled Lightcycles for a race through the digital frontier.
As a reminder, as work continues for TRON the Tomorrowland Speedway and Walt Disney Railroad are temporarily closed. A steam engine from the railroad is sitting “in residence” at the Main Street, U.S.A. train station.
The new TRON ride will open in time for Walt Disney’s World’s 50th anniversary in 2021.
