Does winter have anyone else feeling as cold as Olaf the snowman in Frozen Ever After?
Sorry Elsa, but the cold DOES bother us anyway!
For most people, escaping to Walt Disney World during the winter months means more than magic — it means warm weather! Here are a few of our favorite ways to enjoy the Florida sunshine, and forget the snow and cold you left behind!
1. Dress the Part
Swap those layers, gloves, and boots for some fun summer threads! Celebrate the sun by picking up a new Disney t-shirt or tank top, and rock it in the parks. Nothing like bare arms to forget those frigid temps.
2. Hit the Pool
There are a lot of fun outdoor activities in the winter — snow angels, sledding, skiing — but we can guess you’re not hitting the pool at home right now. Spend an afternoon at your resort pool and soak up all the rays you can! (With plenty of sunscreen, of course!)
3. Spend a day at a Water Park
An afternoon at the pool wasn’t enough? Then spend the day at one of Disney’s incredible water parks! There are two award-winning parks to choose from — Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon. Enjoy a day zipping down slides, floating down a lazy river, or laying out in the sun and working on your tan. Don’t forget the SPF!
4. Hit the Links!
A perfect way to forget the winter is hitting a few balls on the green! Walt Disney World hosts three 18-hole courses, one 9-hole course, and two mini golf locations. Check out our guide to golfing at Disney here for all the info you need for the 18- and 9-hole courses. You can even try your hand — er, feet — on the recently added Footgolf course. The miniature golf courses are a great way to include the whole family. Fantasia Gardens is on Epcot Resorts Blvd. near the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin, and Winter Summerland is next to Blizzard Beach. For even more summer fun, make a bet on your round of mini golf — loser buys Mickey bars?
5. Ice Cream!
Did someone say Mickey bars? There is nothing as refreshing as ice cream during a hot day in the parks! Forget about the cold temps at home and dig into one of many frozen treats available at Walt Disney World. Keep it classic with a Mickey Bar or Mickey Ice Cream Sandwich from an Ice Cream Cart. Grab a scoop at Magic Kingdom’s Plaza Ice Cream Parlor or Hollywood Studios’ Hollywood Scoops. Build a custom ice cream and macaron sandwich in Epcot at L’Artisan des Glaces or swirl up some soft serve at the Anandapur Truck in Animal Kingdom. No matter where you go, enjoy the sun, forget the cold, and get some ice cream!
