During the Epcot International Festival of the Holidays you can learn about holiday traditions from each country. At the American Adventure pavilion, the tradition of visiting a Santa Claus with a white beard, rosy cheeks, a large belly and red suit is fully embraced.
Here I used the zoom lens to fill the frame and carefully focused on Santa’s eyes.
A personal tradition of mine when visiting Epcot during the holiday festivities is to attend a performance of the a cappella ensemble, the Voices of Liberty, who dress in Victorian attire and sing holiday songs and carols from many of World Showcase’s countries.
Before the performance started, I set a Custom White Balance on my camera. This saved me time in post-processing as the yellow cast found in this room was eliminated.
Germany is credited with starting the Christmas tree tradition as we now know it back in the 16th century. Epcot’s World Showcase Christmas Tree is decorated with ornaments featuring each country’s flag.
I cropped this photo in a square to eliminate some distractions and to emphasize the leading lines of the lampposts.
I hope these photos inspire and the links are helpful as you go about photographing your Christmas and holiday traditions this year.
