This morning, Disney Parks, Experiences and Consumer Products Chairman Bob Chapek made several exciting announcements at the Destination D: Celebrating Mickey event being held at the Contemporary Resort.
Yesterday, in a brief meeting with several members of the media, Chapek hinted at big news on the horizon. True to his word, Chapek delivered loads of news, but none more exciting to Star Wars fans than the names of the two signature attractions set for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge when it opens at Disneyland next summer and at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World in fall 2019.
Names and Details Announced for Two Attractions in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge
The new Millennium Falcon ride will be named Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run.
During the ride, guests will take the controls as they participate in one of three unique and critical roles as members of the crew.
The second attraction will be known as Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. This experience will feature an battle between the First Order and the Resistance – including a face-off with Kylo Ren!
Chapek also shared these videos with those attending Destination D:
These two new experiences, paired with the land’s interactive components and optional integration with the Play Disney Parks app, will allow guests to become galactic travelers and live their own Star Wars stories.
Additionally, the music for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will feature original themes created especially for the land by Academy Award®-winning composer John Williams. The all-new music was recorded by the London Symphony Orchestra at Abbey Road Studios.
Star Wars Character Meet and Greets
Some photos were also shared of old favorites as well as some new characters that guests will experience when in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.

More Details for Star Wars Resort Announced
Finally, Chapek also gave a sneak peek at the Star Wars resort that is currently in development for the Walt Disney World Resort.
In the past, Disney has said that the connection between this new hotel and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge would be “seamless.” Today, Chapek revealed that Star Wars hotel guests will ride a “launch pod” to get to a starship that will give them direct entrance to new Star Wars land.
The resort will include features expected of a first-class hotel, including dining, recreation, and accommodations, all while being authentic to the Star Wars universe.
Can you imagine? What will this new resort really be like?!

“What will this new resort really be like?!”
Prohibitively expensive, I fear.
Sounds like we’re getting a couple more simulator (blender) rides just like Body Wars and Mission:Space. Prepare to barf in a galaxy far, far away.
