Walt Disney World has announced that after nearly 20 years, “IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth” will end its run in the second half of next year.
“IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth” is planned to run until the end of summer 2019. It debuted in October 1999 as part of the Walt Disney World Millennium Celebration.
The Disney Parks Live Entertainment team is currently creating a new show that will debut immediately following the conclusion of “IllumiNations,” to continue the tradition of nightly entertainment on World Showcase Lagoon.
The all-new nighttime fireworks spectacular that will replace IllumiNations will be just one part of Epcot’s ongoing, multi-year transformation. Previously announced experiences coming to Epcot include a “Guardians of the Galaxy” roller coaster attraction in Future World, a “Ratatouille”-inspired attraction in World Showcase’s France pavilion, and a new table-service restaurant adjacent to Mission: SPACE.

I guess that you have to move forward. I really missed the Tapestry of Nations parade – it was outstanding. The same is true for Illuminations. I always headed to Epcot to see these great shows whenever I was at WDW and it was such a treat to see them both. I am sure Disney will come up with something spectacular – they always do!
I can understand why other people will be happy to see something new, but I will miss it.
Am in agreement with the last two comments. So enjoyed the first laserphonic show. Loved when they introduced each country around the showcase.
I agree about preferring the original Laserphonic show they had….would be nice to combine something like that with maybe the projection displays on the countries of the “world” involved, like doing in other parks.
Although the Illuminations is spectacular, I loved the laser show that Epcot had back in 1994 over the lagoon. I would love if they brought something like that back!

I will miss Illuminations Reflections of Earth. I’m glad it will still be on when we are there in October. That being said, I’m sure a new show will be exciting and I’m sure will become a new favorite.
