In recent months, you may have noticed that cast members at Disney’s Animal Kingdom have adopted new costumes highlighting threatened and endangered species that Disney is working to support in the wild.
These cast member costumes feature a mosaic design with three different motifs: one spotlights flying animals, such as cranes and butterflies; another has creatures that swim, including sharks, rays and turtles; and the third is of animals that live on land, like elephants, rhinos, tigers and gorillas. The costumes can be found in various lands around the park.
When you see one of these new styles, ask the cast member about it, and why they chose that particular pattern. This is one more way to learn about Disney’s global conservation efforts and the Disney Conservation Fund, which has directed more than $70 million to reverse the decline of wildlife in more than half the countries in the world.
