For the next three weeks, we are going to take a trip around the Seven Seas Lagoon with stop offs at each Monorail resort. And speaking of monorails…

Back in 2009, my family and I were able to get a ride with the Monorail operators in the front cab. In fact, we rode up front between Epcot and the Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC) and on the Magic Kingdom Express which is how I was able to get this photo on approach to Disney’s Contemporary Resort. Unfortunately, after a bad accident, the Disney Corporation has stopped allowing guests to ride up front on their monorails at Walt Disney World.

  1. Great picture. Sad reminder of the tragic accident. My children were able to ride “up front”. Maybe things will change and my grandchildren will also be able to experience the same.

Scott replies: I hope so, too, Walter.

  2. Hi Scott,
My husband and I rode up front several times so I’m sorry to hear this is discontinued but I can understand that Disney wants their guests to be safe.

Scott replies: We were so lucky on this trip. We were able to ride up front three times. I think we only were able to do it one more time before they stopped the practice.
