About ten years ago I thought it might be a good idea to buy my favorite Disney fan, my wife Carol, a customized license plate for her car. Now, what should the plate say? Yes, of course it had to be Disney . . . but what exactly should it say?
If you are a married man you will understand that this is not the type of decision I am authorized to make. There had to be some consultation! We talked about it and she thought it was a great idea. We tossed around a number of possibilities . . . and finally settled on the one pictured below.
It is simple, and conveys our love of all things Disney! Most people are quick to interpret “Love Disney” which is exactly what we intended. A few have guessed “Live Disney” and that’s good too, we do a lot of living Disney!
One friend saw the plate and said, “Oh look Carol, two of your favorite places – Las Vegas and Disney!” Yes Lidia, that’s a good answer too . . . Las Vegas is our second favorite spot; we were married there!
Since picking up Carol’s special plate we have noticed plenty of similar Disney themed tags. Disney characters are well represented with a heavy concentration of “Grumpy” and “Goofy”. Often when we attend a Disney fan event I will take my camera and snap a few shots in the parking lot. Some of the ones I’ve found have been very inventive.
Terry told us that her family, when they first saw this plate, thought she may have taken up long distance running and was a “10K Rebel” but she assured them it meant “Tinker Bell” Of course, any Disney fan would have known that!
Others use their license tags to describe their favorite ride or attraction.
There are many ways to say Disney Magic!
Here’s a proud Disney Vacation Club owner!
Is this Steve Barrett’s plate? I thought he lived in Florida, not Ohio!
His and hers plates from Pennsylvania!
Here’s a wistful comment from someone who is longing to be elsewhere!
Tinker Bell has bestowed good fortune on this family from the Granite State!
How else can you tell people that you “Love Disney”? Here are a few options!
Here’s a collage of all those wonderful plates shown above!
Aren’t they great?
I’ll end this blog with a few questions:
1. If you have a Disney vanity plate or have seen a good one, what does it say?
2. If you were going to get a Disney vanity plate, what would it say?
3. Here in Ontario we can use any combination up to eight letters and numbers. If Carol were going to surprise me with a vanity plate for the motor home (hint, hint) what should it say?
Love these plates! Thanks for posting this topic.
What kinds of Disney events do you attend? My husband and I live in central Ohio and were looking for a Disney fan club nearby.
[Gary writes: Some of the pictures were taken at MagicMeets which used to take place in Camp Hill PA, others came from pin trading meets in Somerset NJ.
If you’re looking for a Disney fan club, read my previous blogs about Dayton Disneyana. There are links to a Disney Fan Club (NFFC) located in Dayton OH in each blog.

My car is COVERED!!! in disney stickers from each vacation…each race ive ran… every character and my plates say “DZNE4ME” but my parents will argue that it says dizzy me ahaha
My NH plate is GRUMPPY. It took the lady who processed my order several tries to come up with a combination that wasn’t taken. I always get comments on it (non-Disney people think it means “grandpa” – I’m not even a father, much less a grandfather!) and even had a license plate collector approach me once and gave me his card, told me he’d happily buy the plate from me if I ever decided to give it up.
When we first moved to Florida, I got plates that said 9 OLD MEN. We bought my wife a Pontiac Solstice specifically because she thought it looked like Lightning McQueen, so I got plates for her car that said RUST EZE.
My Kentucky tag read WEDWAY and hangs on the wall in the garage.
Wis. Plates can get expensive, but each year the plate renewal becomes my wife’s birthday present. She is a huge Packer and Disney fan, so…I got Green Bay Packer plates, then personalized them. GBNWDW…Green Bay N (and) Walt Disney World. Amazing how many people come up and comment on them.
Fun blog! Especially like the HIDN MKY plate. We have seen some of the plates you included, as well as others. There are a lot of Disney lovers in MD – the best plate we’ve seen is YENSID. Our’s is TOBNWDW. It was our last choice and most people can’t figure it out. It even takes some CM’s a few moments …
when i first got my car for my college graduation gift i wanted a disney license plate.. i still do. hehehehe.
I have 2 different plates…one says IOWNDVC …the other GON2DVC
Mine is N2DSNY!!!!
My plates say JSDISNEY!!!
Our car has FNMCMISS …. Which of course is Finn McMissle from Cars.
My license plate is MKE MSE. 🙂
Another great article love the license plates and seeing what they are. Some suggestions for your RV would be…
cg2wdwgo
cgrv2wdw
lvftwldr
k7k32830
Hope that Carol can surprise u big time.
our Disney plate says, E TICET. Deciphered, E TICKET.
Mine is “2DIZNEY”. My sister’s plate is “CMECRUZ” so when we park next to each other, it reads “See me cruise to Disney”!
For your RV how about WDWBOUND
I had M MOUS for a little more than a year, but worried people would think it meant Mighty Mouse or even Minnie Mouse, as I’m a Mickey fan. I’ve now switched to MCKE &. My car is a MINI by the way!
HDN MCKY
Mine is MKY EARS! And have multiple antenna toppers for every season to go with it!
Mine says PXIDST 🙂 Gotta love Tinkerbell!
My car plate shows my love of my DVC “homes”.
BWVOKW
Stumps everyone except a dyed in the wool Disney person. 🙂
Husband’s OH plates read “DISNEY I”. In FL, he was able to get “D1SNEYI”. My FL plate is “AAURORA”
We used to have a Chevy Suburban that we drove to Florida all the time and our license plate said “DSNYBUS”.
Many years ago I was stuck behind a car for a while while the license plate holder that said:
On the top: EM EYE SEE, KAY EE WHY
On the Bottom: EM OH YOU ESS SEE
It took me a little while to figure it out, but once I said it out loud – it all made sense. Loved it!
Hi Gary
As a fellow Ontarian, I have had Disney plates for years. But I love the Villains, so mine is EVLQUEEN. It gets my husband some funny looks when he drives my car 😉 Actually a few years ago Disney did a series of pins that were license plates and they had mine!! (except of course on a Florida plate)
I have gotten a lot of questions about my plates over the years because its not instantly identifiable as a “Disney” plate.
[Gary writes: I bet he gets some funny looks . . . but any Disney fan would get it immediately.]
We have Yensid
They are plates with the Yankees stamp on them and I can’t tell you how many people ask what it means for the Yankees…..
Hi Gary –
While I don’t have them yet, I have a few ideas in mind for what I would get. NY allows up to eight (8) characters. DVC MMBR, DVC BLT, BAYLKTWR, SPLSHMT, DSNY MGM are all possible choices (and some others, too).
– Jeff
My plates are RUN DIS because I love running in Disney races and I’m a travel planner affiliated with MEI-Travel and Mouse Fan Travel!
After being hired to work at Disneyland, I treated myself to D(a heart icon)SNOID. I’m the only one who knows that it reads – DISNOID.
Personal joke that always requires explanation. While working at a Disney Store, in the early 1990’s, I was dubbed a Disnoid by my fellow Cast Members because I knew so much trivia that I annoyed them by winning so many store contests for CMs.
They told me to blame the ads that Domino Pizza was running with the annoying NOID.
Mine is N234MM. I wrote an article about that combination of letters and numbers for WDW Daily News. Know what it is??
[Gary writes: Yes I do – it’s a very special tail number!]
My daughter has DSNYROX on her New Hampshire car. At one time we also had DSNYRX2.
Mine is TINKLVR.
The 10KRBEL right away. I love the 999HPHNT.
While not Disney, my DH & I had Scooby Doo related plates for awhile. His was SCOBYDO and mine was SCOBYFN. Now his is RUTTROE.
My tag just says “DISNEY.” My daughter’s tag says “PETR PAN.”
As befits the most magical fairy of all, mine says “BIBBIDI”. Some people know right away, others have to ask!
Mine is DIZFN
I live in NJ and my vanity plate is also a cause plate. It’s a Conquer Cancer plate. We have various different cause plates in NJ. Cause plates are limited to just 5 characters. Having this cause plate and my vanity plate shows two of my passions. I’ve had mine interpreted as Disney fan and Disney fun. Either works.
How about these for your motor home
MYWDWHME OR MYWDWHOM (My WDW home)
2WDWIGO (To WDW I go)
4WDWTRVL (for WDW travel)
[Gary writes: Great ideas, thanks.]
Just got mine this year our kids picked GOTDSNY
Love it!
I got mine a few years ago and it says DISNYGK. I love it and have gotten many compliments on it while our running errands.
I had one for years in Virginia that said “EYORLVR”
Would love to have that here in Oregon as well but they are WAY too expensive to get.
I have a NY plate reading DOOMBUGY
I live in Illinois and we have 8 spaces and one must be a number. We chose DSNY FM4, for our family of 4.
The best I ever saw was on an Infinity. It simply said NDBYND.
Made me want to buy an Infinity.
My friend got one that said KNGLSH (for anyone who knows their PI history).
[Gary writes: Aaaah . . . kungaloosh!]
my Virginia plates say DVC2WDW as I am a proud Vacation Club Member!
Gary, you posted this at 5:26 AM ? Another early day at the fort ? Those naps are keeping your night sleeps short. Enjoy the rest of your stay !
[Gary writes: Thanks for your concern Gabe, but I was sound asleep at 5:26. It’s all automated!]
Mine read PXEDST. I’ve got them locked in as mine for another four years!
DSNYADIC is what I have had for many years now. I also had other ideas, but all were already taken in NY
My plate is DZNYROX
I drive a green Beetle Convertible, license plate: J CRIKT. 🙂
For your RV? I think it’s obviously got to be…
FTWLDRNS
[Gary writes: That could work!]
My licence plate says DVCBDWK. I get stopped a lot in parking lots and gas stations asking to explain the DVC part of the plate. You have to be a Disney person to understand it. 🙂
Great article Gary. I love going through the parking lots and reading plates. Our RV simply says WDW. Some people can get really creative. It’s fun.
We have MGK KNGDM (hers) and PUMBAA (mine). The wife took one look at my Canyon edition (dark brown) Kia Soul and dubbed him Pumbaa.
My license plate is KLVZWDW for Kirstyn loves WDW. My mother’s is LUVZWDW. In California, we have gotten lots of questions about them.
Mine is NTZ4WDW, yes, I am nuts for Disney!
WDWMAGC for me!
My plates read POOH J and POOHJ2.
I must admit that around home in the Rocket City, the second confuses a few people as they think the J2 refers to a the J-2 engines which are a commonly used rocket engine but when you see the plates side by side one can tell it’s just Pooh J’s second vehicle. 😉
Not me, but someone else in Michigan has a Nissan “Infinity”, and beneath the car model name is the license NBEYOND.
Mine is DSNEFNS
I drive a Chevy Cruze and my plate is JUNGLE.
For years my tag was “Simba 2” since the safari vehicle was Simba 1. Now I drive an orange Element so it’s ORNG BRD for the Orange Bird
My plate has been ILOVWDW for the past 15 yrs!
My license plate is DVCLUV. I had other ideas but they were all rejected and this was the one that was approved by the Mass RMV.
Mine says AL WDW 7.
Explanation: We met on the DISboards… His screen name is Alacrity or AL for short. Mine is wdwtheplacetobe or WDW for short. We were married at Disney’s Wedding Pavilion in 2007.
In CT we are allowed 6 characters. My plate is WDW DVC. I had someone ask me if I was widowed and divorced before. Obviously, not a Disney lover…..lol!
[Gary writes: Thanks Michelle, this one made me giggle!]
Our Disney plate is EXP-626
