Instagram!

Deb's Digest Blog

Have you seen the word “Instagram” showing up on your Facebook page or perhaps your Twitter feed? There is always a photo attached — sometimes a funky photo in different colors or maybe black-and-white or even cartoonish.

According to the folks at Instagram it’s “… a fun and quirky way to share your life with friends through a series of pictures. Snap a photo with your mobile phone, then choose a filter to transform the image into a memory to keep around forever. We’re building Instagram to allow you to experience moments in your friends’ lives through pictures as they happen. We imagine a world more connected through photos.”

And that’s it in a nutshell.

First you need to go to the App Store on your phone, search for “instagram” and download the free app. Once downloaded, set up your free Instagram account – voila – you are ready to start!

You can either take a new photo or use one already on your phone’s camera roll or photo folder. Once the photo is in the app, you choose from a variety of filters and frames for your photo.

And if you really get into it, there are other free or low cost apps to add more options.

Instacollage (free or pro) made a couple of the collages we have here and Instaeffect is fun too!

A+ Signature allows you to put a watermark or a copyright on your photo. The lite version is free.

So follow us on Instagram for cool daily photos!

Have you used Instagram? Have an app you would recommend to go along with it?

  1. Instagram is a lot of fun. I was happy to see that you joined. I really like your collages, they look great. I used instagram to post pics when I was at WDW in January. When I got home, I couldn’t bring myself to stop! Now it’s my morning ritual to share one Disney photo each day. I’d love to see more of our Disney friends join in – there can never be too many Disney photos as far as I am concerned!

  2. I love Instagram (although, not used it for a while!) and when we visited Florida in 2011 I took 90% of my photographs on my iPhone4, edited them with Camera+ (my favourite app) and shared them on Instagram as my travel photo-diary.

We’re going back this year to Orlando and I keep debating whether to use my proper camera or my iPhone! I got some fab shots last time, and it was so easy to have my phone in my hand (and in its pouch around my neck!) than having to worry about a bulky camera 😀

  3. Have you heard about the Instagram change in policy? I heard about it, ironically, on my last Disney trip. Your photos become stock photos for the website, and they can sell the pictures to be used elsewhere. (ie: Selfies of young girls used on dating sites, vacation photos used for travel agencies…) and they will not tell you if they use them and they will not pay you for your photos. You agree to it under their terms and conditions or whatever. Just thought I’d let you know.

AllEars: Our understanding is that policy was quickly reversed after it was announced!
