Disney Pic of the Week – Kilimanjaro Safaris

Focus on Disney World by Barrie Brewer

This week we’re going to take a trip to Africa to visit the Harambe Wildlife Reserve. Our Pic of the Week has us heading out to Kilimanjaro Safaris in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Come on along as we cross the savannah with our cameras in tow.

This young giraffe was munching on some vegetation along the roadside. I was lucky enough to be sitting in the back seat of our jeep as we passed by! This is a reticulated giraffe. Reticulated refers to the pattern on its body. Each giraffe has its own distinct pattern.

  1. I just got back from WDW. Sitting in the last row of the safari vehicles was a new experience for me, but it really is the best place for getting some great shots.

Barrie’s reply: You just have to be careful because it is very bumpy back there, especially if the truck isn’t full. I kept hitting myself in the head with my camera!
